willofmaine
In VW 2014, how do I get the eyedropper tool to transfer the "By Class" attribute? Whenever I use it, it will transfer attributes such as line and fill color, but they don't remain "By Class," even though they're "By Class" for the original object... Thanks, Will Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 4, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 4, 2014 It does not, Eyedropper is more for transferring specific attributes of one object to another. If you wanted the target objects to use By Class I think it would be faster/fewer clicks to just select them and change their attributes to By Class. Quote Link to comment
willofmaine
This happens even with absolutely every option selected in "Eyedropper Preferences;" and the target object has all of it's attributes as "By Class" to begin with and was created in a class set to use attributes at creation... willofmaine
Hi Jim, In Vectorworks 2013, it works as expected. The target object has all of it's attributes set to "By Class" if the original object does... Thanks, Will Quote Link to comment
M5d
I believe this is a bug Will. I've been trying to work out what I might have changed from prior versions without success. It kind of renders the eyedropper tool useless, as I strictly maintain attributes by class for viewport customisation. Quote Link to comment
willofmaine
And maybe I didn't explain the issue clearly?... In both Vectorworks 2013 and 2014: 1.) Create a new blank file; 2.) Edit the None class so that Graphic Attributes are "Use at Creation;" 3.) Create a new class, set its Graphic Attributes to "Use at Creation" as well, and make the fill and pen colors any crazy color other than black and white; 4.) Draw a rectangle, and in the OIP place it in the new class (it should inherit the crazy colors); 5.) Draw a second rectangle (which by default should be in the None class, with all of its attributes set to "By Class," indicated by the little arrows in the Attributes palette); 6.) Use the eyedropper tool to transfer the attributes of the rectangle in the new class to the one in the None class (see attached for Eyedropper settings used in both 2013 and 2014). In Vectorworks 2013, the target rectangle's attributes will all be "By Class," whereas in Vectorworks 2014 the fill and line colors will be transferred, but they won't be "By Class," the fill and pen will be "Solid" instead of "By Class," and the line thickness will be .05 instead of "By Class," as they are in 2013...
