George K
Hi, If someone could clarify something for me. I have seen one topic re:Section VP, line, and visibility control but just wanted a to ask.. When VW defines a live section it means that the section will update once the Plan has been updated correct? There is no way of accessing the section in the viewport picking an object i.e a beam and moving it up, or down etc. or even picking an object in order to identify its class. Any wall textures hatches bespoke patterns etc need to be done in the annotations for them to be viewport specific? If anyone could shed some light that would be great. Thanks GK Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
VW does not have live sections, though the section vp can be updated to reflect any changes made in your model. For the fills of walls, you can override classes in your viewport, which then are viewport specific. This is faster then drawing them in you annotations, they even update with the model. Though your objects will be set by class for it's attributes, but that's a general rule you need to use always to get all out of VW. Quote Link to comment
George K
Ok thanks for the clarity; Shame. Re: wall fills etc - Although i having tried the class override nothing seems to happen so not sure where i'm going wrong on that front... GK Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Ruby S Posted December 18, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 18, 2013 If you are using wall styles you will need to edit the components in the wall style to use class attributes rather than the attributes defined within the wall. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee JuanCarlos Posted December 18, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 18, 2013 If you want to edit in section mode you may want to use the Clip Cube Quote Link to comment
George K
Thanks tried that...and in theory that should would work ...in any other software but for some unknown reason you cannot view the model in hidden and clip cube mode. Unless there is a button somewhere that i missed GK Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 18, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 18, 2013 Being able to use Clip Cube in the different rendering modes is on the wishlist, many have asked for it. Including myself. Quote Link to comment
George K
Thanks Jim, Thought it might be on a wish list as it seem such an obvious thing hence my restrained comment on clip cube. Look forward to it. Out of interest how & where do wishes get logged. i.e can anyone on this forum submit one and view the list? in case you haven't it worked it out I'm new to the forum so a little bit green behind the ears. Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 18, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) This is the best spot at the moment: http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=12&page=1 I keep an eye on this and forum members hash out whether the items are already there and just not obvious, if its a feature that should be added and how it should be implemented. (I think only employees, distributors and beta testers can submit them directly via our internal tracking software, but I am not positive. I'll find out because I really should know that...) Guest Wes Gardner
Hi George, You may want to have a look at this file and its Wall Style. Toggle through the Saved Views to see how the use of "Use Class Attributes" helps the Wall Style. The Fat Line/ Thin Line thing is just me fooling around - it can only work in plan as it will bollix up your renderings. By the way, I typically suggest that Vectorworks has "linked" sections, not live sections. Wes Edited December 18, 2013 by Wes Gardner Quote Link to comment
