Gytis
I am at a loss for 2010 to 2014. Can't find in Help. Tried manually replacing file in App Support>>Settings but doesn't seem to take. Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
I have a user folder in my personal library which I redirect VW to instead of the default user folder. With each version, this is the way my preferences are kept. So I think you just have to copy your user folder. Some things may be deprecated, others new. But VW should deal with them. Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted November 11, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 11, 2013 You CAN try to transfer preferences from 2010 to 2014 but you should not. It is best to set your preferences up anew when going between so many versions at once. Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
Wish list item - VW could ask you if you want to import your preferences/workspaces from a previous version during installation. That way they would get filtered for relevant version changes and not cause problems. KM Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted November 11, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 11, 2013 Agreed. That would be far superior to users manually moving preferences and workspaces, then having to trudge through either the complete wiping of them for troubleshooting, or the multiple "Plugin not in plugin folder" and similar errors encountered when workspaces from much older versions are brought in. Submitting. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted November 11, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 11, 2013 Also, enhancements to the migration of settings and workspaces would be very valuable and would take away some of the pain points involved in upgrading currently, which would benefit everyone in the bigger picture. Noting this in the submission. Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
Very well summarized. Thanks Jim. Kevin Quote Link to comment
