Cadplan Architecture
I'm having problems importing a usable version of a clients Sketchup model. It imports ok but all the 3D components are on separate layers. I can't see why it's doing this as looking at the SK model in it's own prog there don't seem to be layers. Is there a way to bring it in as a 3DS model? Quote Link to comment
Patrick Fritsch
Check out this 6 part tutorial on Vimeo by Stephen Barker, should help, he goes through all the the different methods including 3DS. Quote Link to comment
Cadplan Architecture
Hey, that's good for the rendering although it doesn't deal with the multiple layer problem that I have. I've now copied and pasted all the layers into a new VW document and given them all the same layer assignation but individual classes. It's a bit long winded but seems to be working so far! Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted November 6, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 6, 2013 Are you unable to simply select all the object and then change them to the desired layer via the Object Info palette? Or is it that they are all in the same class as well, and you want them separated by class, not layer? Quote Link to comment
Cadplan Architecture
In my opinion Sketchup is great as a stand alone tool, but combining with Vectorworks is not practical. We ended up using the excellent tape measure and dimensioning tools in SU and then re-drafting in Vectorworks Quote Link to comment
