VincentCuclair
1. It is confusing and prone to error not to be consistent in tool dialogs (green). 2. Why are these 2 Mullion settings not connected(red)? They should either be greyed out in the OIP or they should be connected. Quote Link to comment
0 Christiaan
The problem stems from U.S. customary terminology that deviates from the rest of the English-speaking world. So when NV refer to a transom (in the rest of the world a horizontal member) what they actually mean is a fanlight (or top light). It would be easier to follow if Americans stuck to calling it "transom light", which they sometimes do. And when NV refer to a mullion (in the rest of a world a vertical member) what they actually mean is a transom (a horizontal member, as it's known in the rest of the world) or glazing bars (the vertical and horizontal bars between glazing). So you'll notice that the section in the OIP you're pointing at is headed "Transom", which actually means transom light or fanlight. The "mullion" width and depth figures under that refer to the horizontal transom between the fanlight and the main window. And the "mullion" width and depth figures in Custom Sash Options refer to the glazing bars in your main window. That's why they're not related. And you don't have a fanlight as part of your window, so those figures don't effect anything. This terminology is half-fixed in the UK version; all terminology is now correct except for the Custom Sash Options window, which still refers to glazing bars as "mullions". Quote Link to comment
0 VincentCuclair
Ah! quite right, my bad. (I've been using solely WinDoor so am a little out of tune with the native tools and terminology.) Quote Link to comment
0 VincentCuclair
In that case my wish is changed to access to the Mullion in the OIP, perhaps in the Jamb/Sash section?! Edited November 14, 2012 by Vincent C Quote Link to comment
0 Christiaan
Well kind of. They need to add those settings to the Jamb/Sash rather than move them. One set controls the horizontal member between the toplight and main window. The other controls the glazing bars of the main window. Quote Link to comment
