Benson Shaw
Different settings in same DTM: If no minor contours, the index contours all have correct z value. If minor contours are added, some of the major ones display with fraction error. Drawing is prefs set for 1/8" precision. If set for no fractions, the DTM displays correctly. But that's global for the drawing. I may have other elements/details which need fractional dims. DTM source data entered from 2d polys>Convert to3d polys> Survey Input. Did I go wrong? Bug? DTM limitation? -B Edited November 12, 2012 by Benson Shaw Quote Link to comment
ray isaacs
benson, i have had a similar experience since vw 2010 (now using 2012). working in metric, i sometimes have a situation were contours are 349.9999 instead of 350. i checked all the dtm settings, 3d data, whatever i can think of. but, the only thing that resolved it was--as you say--setting decimal precision to .01. in my case that is what i want anyway, so i just went on without thinking about the causes. it seems to happen randomly, never noticed a pattern, but never really looked. it is a strange and annoying phenomenon. cheers, ray Quote Link to comment
Bryan G.
yes I too have had this often and have come to accept this as normal for VW. I know I shouldn't but what to do? Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Many thanks, Bryan & Ray. It's great to see all this deep experience on the forum. I thought the conversion to 3d poly might have kicked up one of the vertices out of plane. If I can nail it to a sample file, I will file a bug and then, just take a deep breath and let it go. -B Quote Link to comment
Bryan G.
I will also start noting what is happening more and post. Quote Link to comment
