Framing Member: firring strips?

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to create firring strips with the framing member tool?

To avoid any terminology confusion: a firring strip is a tapered strip of timber fixed along the top of a joist to create fall to the decking above.

Christiaan,

From what I can tell, Framing Member Tool only pitches the member like a rafter. It does not allow for tapered slopes.

What we need is a Wedge Tool. Closest we have is Ramp Tool.

You will need to draw a rectangle, chamfer tool (3rd option) and extrude.

I did mine in Front (side)view and made strip 1-1/2" extrusion.

Line 1 is top, line 2 is side.

Works great!
