kumoro
Hi all, Just started Vectorworks Designer a week ago, and I find that the manual page that come with the application doesn't help that much. I wanna create an engineering project, both in 2D and 3D complete with Drawing Title to print and present to the executor team. What are the first thing to do?? Thank you, Quote Link to comment

taoist
kumoro, Here are some guidelines. Setup your Page Set Document Preferences Set Document Settings Create or use Title Block Save as Template. Use your Class & Layer Standards (if any). You may need to create these or you can use one of the Defaults. Save as Template. You can create multiple Templates. Design Layers is where the "designing" is done. Viewports is where the output and annotation is done. Viewports are put on Sheet Layers. Viewports allow for multiple views of the "design" without altering the design. Basic Tool Palette contains 2D Tools. For 3D, there are several ways to do this. Start with 2D shapes, then extrude. You need to learn Surfaces: Clip,Add,Intersect,Combine. For designs in 3D, Solids: Add,Subtract,Intersect,Section. Your design needs will determine which to use. I am sure there are others who can help you with your specific needs for Mechanical Engineering. Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
Hi kumoro, You might also spend a little time in the KnowledgeBase - there are some videos that speak directly to creating custom Title Blocks, etc. that could be of help to you. Wes Quote Link to comment
