willofmaine
Do design layers no longer really have their own Z=0? Too often symbols and things seem to end up at the file's Z=0, and not the design layer's Z=0. I just put a beam PIO on my fourth floor, and it's about 44' below the floor... Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
Something changed with the addition of Stories in VW2012. Things seem to behave ok when Stories are defined, but if they're not they behave differently than they used to..... I often find things at unexpected heights. Kevin Quote Link to comment
willofmaine
At least it's not just me, then. But in this project, my Stories are defined (though I haven't much experience with Stories; maybe I've been missing something...). I used to set my first floors at 100' (unless I knew their actual surveyed elevation) so that my basements would be at, say, 92' instead of -8'. Because of this problem with unexpected heights, I started setting my first floor at 0' (so that, for example, a second floor toilet might only be 9' away, instead of 109' away...). But then it turns out that DTMs need to be at the file's Z=0, otherwise they don't seem to work properly (their boundaries seem to form enclosing "walls" (planar geometry) higher than their surface terrain). So now I'm back to putting my buildings at 100', etc. Anyway, thanks for the response! Will Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
This problem also existed in VW2011, but less than in VW2012. I experience this mostly when copy-paste from layer to layer. I also noticed it has something to do with the stack layers option. If it is off, I have no problems. Quote Link to comment
