duggie-APE
Hi all, As you can tell from my huge post count, I'm a noob on this forum (and also with VW) so some, or most, of my questions will probably be pretty basic ... please bear with me !! First off, I have a model assembly using 3D components and I need to convert the entire model into a 2D file so it can be converted and inserted into an AutoCAD file. I have looked for the ability to make this conversion, but cannot seem to find anything. Is it possible in VW to do this; do I need a custom script, etc. ?? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, duggie-APE Quote Link to comment
Mitchell Brooks
If you are looking for a floor plan type view (you don't say if this is an architectural kind of drawing or not), select the Top/Plan in the View Menu, and export to DWG using 2D elements only. There is no conversion per se, just a selection of the kind of view and then the kind of export you want. Welcome to Vectorworks. Quote Link to comment
willofmaine
You can take any view (top/plan, top, side, axonometric, perspective, etc.) and convert it to lines, which creates a group that is a 2D line drawing that can be exported to DWG. To convert to lines, select Modify > Convert > Convert Copy to Lines. This can be done either on a design layer or with a rendered viewport. (If you don't select the "Copy" option, your original 3D geometry will be deleted). To export to DWG, select File > Export > Export DXF/DWG... HTH Quote Link to comment
