jorrie
Hi everyone, Im fairly new to vectorworks, anyone can recommend me a good tutorial preferrable a PDF one so I dont have to carry a book with me? I try to make a object round in 3d.. I have in top view draw the shape of it but then im totally stuck how I get it to be rounded like a cockpit of an airplane, it shoule become rounded and move from 10cm /inch at the end to 0cm/inch in the front so its not only rounded but also getting smaller each inch it moves toward the nose of the airplane. Anyone can help me with some tutorials or info on that? Thanks in advanche! Quote Link to comment

Benson Shaw
Welcome to the forum! What version of VW and OS are you using? Make a profile in the My Stuff tab near top of this window. Lots of ways to do this. Read up on Loft Tool and NURBS in VW Help. One way to start learning: In top view with axis of nose cone on y axis pointing down, and tip of nose at 0,0: 1. Start a 2d polyline in spline mode at 0,0 and draw the starboard half. 2. Convert this poly to NURBS. 3. Draw the port half (or mirror the starboard half). Convert to NURBS. 3. Switch to Right view. 4. Draw the upper profile starting at 0,0,0 point. Convert to NURBS. 5. Switch to isometric view to see your 3 NURBS curves, connected at 0,0,0. 6. Select the Loft tool in 3d tools, Click end points in sequence: Starboard, Upper, Port. A red line will connect them. 7. Click the green checkmark (or press return) to create the lofted NURBS surface. That's the upper half of your nose cone. Give it a fill color with the Attributes Palette. 8. Render with Open GL. Examine it with the Flyover tool. Switch to right view and Mirror (or draw new curve and loft again) for the bottom half. Another way is to draw a series of NURBS bulkheads and loft them. Also look into the rail loft modes. Good luck. Post back with more questions. -B Quote Link to comment
