autocad to VW - pen tables, display as colors, etc

sorry for the novice q, but i could not find the answer on the board. i am new to VW2010 but have used acad way too much the past 10 years.

how do you set up pen tables?

under Organization/Classes I named my classes (layers?) and assigned type & thickness etc, BUT the drawing is all black lines, not the pretty colors I assigned.

what gives?

any help importing .ctb files to VW?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Colors: File>Document Prefs>Display uncheck Black and white only......

Ctb: Help>Vectorworks Help ...DXF/DWG importing>Lineweights....

well..... that did not work. I am sure the lines are drawn the correct class & the class is a color

and the black & white is un checked

and have tried "use layer colors" checked and unchecked

any help?

In Tools>Organization>Classes, dbl click a class to get the Edit dialog box (or click the edit button)

Check the Use at Creation box (top left).

Do this for each class.

If this is not the issue, post back.
