PETER - i understand, but what about using another design layer as an underlay? do all visible layers have to be @ the same scale? or do they show up as 1:1 when ever you are in 'model space'?

thanks for the great advice - but still nothing!! tried lots of line weight & dash line scale combination's and the only thing that changes is the line weight scale. when i switch the DL to 3/16 the dashes show fine but it still does not change the way displayed in the VP tried several DL line thicknesses & line types also. the dashes are not showing up in the VP. 'zoom line thickness' was off - now it is on - tried everything again - no luck

entered .0156 & still no change in appearance. the line is the default default dash style-1 in model space - it is not the layer default line type.

sorry for being so dense-but. . . model space is 1:1 & view port is 3/16=1-0 i am changing the dashed line 'dashed line scale' and updating but nothing is working. the scale factor for 3/16 = 64 so i entered 64, then tried 1/64, then random numbers - nothing is changing the appearance. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

how do you adjust the line type scale so it looks correct in the viewport? i changed the scale of the design layer and it looks right in model space, but it does not change the view port lines (& it does not match the other layers.) thanks for any help

OK-windows & doors were created w/ the window/door tool & there is a 'sill' class. when i turn off the 'sill' class the doors & swings & window glass go away and the sills are the only thing left wtheck?

basic questions how do you turn off/on door heads, swings, etc in your sheet layer view ports? also, is there a way to turn on door & window tags with the doors & windows? or do you have to place tags manually? much obliged

thanks for the help - still having some problems the jpg is only visible in 'visible' mode, but i want it visible in 'grey' mode. same goes for the sheet layers vp's - is there a way to view the jpg as greyed or screened? or do i need to make a greyed out jpg? thanks again.

i am using a jpg in a design layer & i want to sketch over it in another design layer. is this possible? (i do not want to redraw the entire jpg!) it would be very cool if i could use the screened jpg w/ the over-layed sketch in my sheet layer vp. thanks for any help.

well..... that did not work. I am sure the lines are drawn the correct class & the class is a color and the black & white is un checked and have tried "use layer colors" checked and unchecked any help?

sorry for the novice q, but i could not find the answer on the board. i am new to VW2010 but have used acad way too much the past 10 years. how do you set up pen tables? under Organization/Classes I named my classes (layers?) and assigned type & thickness etc, BUT the drawing is all black lines, not the pretty colors I assigned. what gives? any help importing .ctb files to VW? any help would be greatly appreciated! cheers
