Broken Section Line

I want to make a section using a broken section line, but the instructions on the 'help' topics dont seem to work for me? I have tried making one straight section, then trying to edit the section line via the 2D re-shape tool but it doesnt seem to work? Is there a better way to do this? what am i doing wrong?!

The section line works like all path objects:

- Single click to start.

- Single click at each change of direction.

- Double click to finish.

Note:

- Section steps can only be at right angles to the direction of the section.

- Sections can only look in one direction so if you want a change of view direction in the section you will need to use two separate partial sections.
