rDesign
With SketchUp you can save the SKP files as an older version (all the way down to version 3). In SketchUp pull down 'File > Save As...', and then at the bottom of that dialogue box there is 'Save As Type' and you can select whatever version you want. Pick the newest version that your Vw version can handle. But Vw won't import textures via Import SKP, so if you'll have to import a 3DS file instead of a SKP file if you want the textures. See this thread if you want additional info on this: Importing Sketchup symbols into Vectoworks 2011 . But you'll need SketchUp Pro in order to export 3ds, you can only downsave to an older SKP file with the free version. Regards, Tim Quote Link to comment
cad@sggsa
Hi rDesign Thanks for all the info I do not have SketchUp at all. Downloaded a few files as I knew VW12 could import them. But you mention a Free Version of SketchUp? Where? Quote Link to comment
Monadnoc
Here's a link to a free online converter: http://www.babel3d.com/ I just tried it yesterday and it worked great. I had a .skp 7 file that came into VW as an unusable, grey mess (parts of the model were missing). I converted it to .3ds via Babel3D and it imported fine, all parts were there, and with all colors intact (not really textures, but at least it wasn't grey). They ask for your email to notify you when it's done, but it converted it as I waited and I was able to download it right away. It only took a few seconds. rDesign
Search the web for "Google SketchUp" and you can find where to download it for free. The free version will be able to downsave to a version of SKP that your Vw can handle. Regards, Tim Quote Link to comment
