Linking to Worksheet?

I want to create a customized sheet with a list of some objects in my document. I can get a list of name and quantity using a report/worksheet but want to have a corresponding image next to this information. Is there a way to link the data within a worksheet to the text on my sheet layer?

If I understand correctly....

Tools>Records>Link Text to Record will link text (often in a symbol) to a field in a record format.

That record can be called on a worksheet.

Yes, I understand how data can be entered manually through the Object Info Palette which physically changes the appearance of text within a linked symbol. But is there a way to automatically have this text change based on worksheet data? How does a record call on a worksheet?

Tools > Reports > Create report...

create a report based on the record format. When you change the data in the worksheet, the symbol will update. I don't know what version of Vectorworks you are using, but this only works in the later versions of Vectorworks not in all versions.

Worksheets are a big topic, and you need to learn more about them. I think it's so important to learn about worksheets, I added a chapter to My Essential Tutorial manual available from http://www.nemetschek.net/training/guides.php

Thanks for your help but I don't seem to be getting anywhere with 12.5. If anyone knows differently please let me know.

I'll have to go back and take a look at v12 and refresh my memory.

12.5 Fundamentals or one of the design series?

I'm pretty sure that 2-way worksheets were introduced in Vectorworks 2008. If you are using Vectorworks 12, you will not have this ability.

Jonathan's right. 12.5 won't do it. You will need 2008 or later.

12.5 Spotlight did have a very cool thing called the "Editable Worksheet", but that was for lighting instruments only.
