michaelk
I must be missing something... I've created a simple symbol for a custom round window containing 3 items: 1. a 3D round frame. Extrusion is deeper than the wall. 2. a 3D round 3D poly w/ a stained glass texture. 3. a round 3D extrusion (in the 3D Wall Hole Component space) When this symbol is inserted into a wall it behaves as expected. When this symbol is used as a window symbol [Window Preferences > Select "Use Symbol Geometry" > select symbol] the window is then inserted but it looks like a regular default single hung sash. It seems to have "forgotten" that it was supposed to use the symbol. If I go to settings for that window and remind it to use the symbol, then the window appears, but still with the default rectangular wall cutout. No combination of settings I've found can correct the wall cutout. It also doesn't remember the "use symbol geometry" preference setting the next time the window tool is used. When this symbol is inserted as a door [Door Preferences > Select "Use Symbol Geometry" > select symbol] it behaves as expected. What's different about the window tool that I'm not seeing? CipesDesign
Sounds like a possible bug. Please send a description of the issue along with a demo file and the steps to reproduce to the Bug Submit link at the right of this page. For the time being, why not just use it as a symbol. I'm not sure there is any real advantage to using it with the window PIO w/ use symbol geometry, rather than simply using the symbol by itself... Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Hi Peter I also suspect it's a bug. I will just use it as a symbol for now. But it would be nice to have it behave like a window. I'll attach an example. If nobody finds an a d'oh! mistake on my part, I'll submit. thanks michaelk Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Yep, it's a bug. Just heard back from NNA, they duplicated the problem. michaelk Quote Link to comment
