Reflected Ceiling Plans

Hi -

We are using VW2009 on Macs and want to make legible Reflected Ceiling Plans using our Floor Plan files.

I understand that turning off the 'sills' class and turning on the 'ceiling-main' class can result in usable plan for use with RCP's, but why does the JAMB still show? Basically, for the purposes of our Reflected Ceiling Plans, we want to be able to view a plan file as if no doors or windows have been placed in it.

More information - we are using STANDARD NAMING (AIAS/NCS) and have AUTO CLASSING turned ON. (I understand that the 'ceiling-main' and 'sills' classes are not part of the AIA naming standards...)

Please respond with tips if you have them.

You can create a class (call it "doors" or whatever), then place the door(s) into that class, then turn that class off in the RC view(port). The only flaw that I can see is that you are left with an opening (good) but it has no lines (perhaps not so good). P

The reason the jambs still show is because of the way the standard door PIO is defined. From the quick test I did, the jambs are actually placed on the '0' class and the door leaf and swing are in the 'A-WALL-JAMB' class, even though the actual PIO is auto-classed to the 'A-DOOR' class.

Do you know if it is possible to change the class that the PIO assigns to the jambs to something other thatn '0'? Would that mean having to modify the plug-in itself?

There's not a good way to get rid of the jambs so far as I am aware.

Actually, I believe that the real problem is that the Hole-in-the-Wall remains regardless. Now, a good Door or Window tool could perhaps fake it and draw the wall anyway. Thanks for the idea: I want my Door & Window tools to be good. 95/95 at least.

How to trigger this is another kettle of cat-fish.

I can't think of a reliable trigger. There'd need to be a RC Projection or something ? but since at core VW is not a building modeler??

I managed to get my doors to become closed when in Top View; when rendered, hunky dory, but overall I don't buy it.
