locus
Does anyone know how to sucessfully export Archicad files into Vectorworks. Are there settings in archicad one should adjust before exporting? Do you use dxf or dwg and which version. Also how about Plotmaker layout files can they be exported and how. Any help would be appreciated, Richard Gachot Quote Link to comment
Guest
In order to import Archicad files in VectorWorks, you need to save the file(s) as .DXF or .DWG files. When you open VectorWorks go to File>Import and select the file you wish you import. As far as the settings in Archicad, VectorWorks will support industry standard guidelines of DXF and DWG files. VectorWorks 8.5.2 will support up to Version 14 DXF/DWG, VectorWorks 9 will support up to Version 2000. If PlotMaker files can be saved as DXF or DWG files, then yes, they can be imported into VectorWorks. Quote Link to comment

zoomer
I would try IFC. My IFCs came fine into Archicad, Walls, Doors, Windows, .... and editable. Much better than if I import my own IFCs back into VW. And the IFCs I get from Revit users were far better than their DWG attempts. So IFC will not give any editable PIOs, but at least it may be true solids and lossless. Quote Link to comment
