1. About your post. Really I want learn about Marionette, but now I must make a workflow very hard. A reference Architecture 2D project has polys showing spaces. Then I need create spaces from this polys, but adding the text as the name of the space. Your algorithm menage the tree name grouping the text and circles. But how convert this to spaces insted?
2. I appreciate to mucho your efforts in sustainable design. But this tool is made only for the US. I can't be part because I am in Chile. Regards
3. Hello to all: Since update to Sonoma, VectorWorks 2024 crash every time I try to open or create a new document. The Menu bar is not visible. This situation happens even with the Viewer version.
4. Hello; I need design a stair with different with between the start and the end. The stair is straight but the wall goes diagonal, reducing linearly the width. I think must do a solid subtraction. But loose plan data
5. Hello Sarah: First to all, very great job. I want tell you what I am doing. I am an architect in Chile. The project is a little house in the Chiloe Island. For Chile, VectorWorks have only 3 cities, not to much representative to a country with the Atacama Desert in the North and the Antartica at south. Then, when can find the XML files for other locations? I mean not default locations. I am using ENERGOS. Lotate the project in Chiloe but the analysis is made with Santiago, 1347 Km North. Or, there a choice to export the data contained in Marionette to an XML file? I want lear Marionette but my time is not to much now Best regards
6. Hello Matt: That do not work for me. For example the opening in the roof I made, must be displeased about a meter. But nothing works. And when click on edit opens the Roof dialog. I will start over and make the opening again to the new position
7. Dear All: I am testing VW 2021 with Monterey. At this time, all works fine
8. Hello to all. I will try it to test. I backup my ssd first regards
9. I do that, but lost the file. It was about: Create a Worksheet, Set a row as DataBase. Set the criteria as Layer is <<the floor plan do you want to get the report >> In the first field put the function ==GETSPACENUMFOROBJ in the next =GETSPACENAMEFOROBJ at last =OBJECTTYPENAME
10. The same model working in VectorWorks 2020, in Windows monster PC vs a MacBook Pro with not al all features, works better in the MacBook Pro. It is incredible. My Mac with only 1.5 Mb VRAM loads a 536 Mb model and did not have troubles with Open GL. Meanwhile the same view in the PC appears with scratches. I do not know why. But it is my experience.
11. Hello to everyone. I think we are in a revolution times in many areas..... politics, health and now in the Technology Industry. Apple not only says good bye to OpenGL. Is saying Good bye to INTEL and external GPUs as well........ or not. Nobody knows except Apple. In my case, use a Mac since 1988. And when Apple left away 68k architecture to migrate to PowerPC, many worry. When abandoned PowerPC to use INTEL was worst, almost a treason. Now after the long partnership with heat and more heat processors will change to use a RISC Architecture again. Then. I only feel hope. Yes. The hope of a good support to all users that are always loyal to the brand not only for follow a brand but a way to work and think. Obviously VectorWorks will run in Silicon processors at last. Obviously Apple or any other will give support to OpenGL like Java. (Java or Flash are not part of macOs any more). But ORACLE and Adobe keep working on maintain its software running on a Mac. Then do not worry. All finally will be adapted to maintain users happy. Regards
12. Hello: Export directly to REVIT can be an excellent way to share data. For example I am creating the BIM Library of a Windows Maker, and he ask for the REVIT files. IFC is my choice to BIM sharing information, but it is very complicated to people new in this affairs
13. I ask for almost the same to you, plus the kind of material. nowaday Steel Frame is a very good choice and wood frame as well. Then why do not up date a tool that is present without change since 2008?
14. Hello there. I am producing a VW Classes for a colleges. I am using VW 2017 in my MacBook Pro 17 2011, with High Sierra. And they are using VW 2019 trial. The same file in all computers: One a MacBook Pro 13 2018 and a HP running W10. In VW 2017 all works fine. But in VW 2019 walls are shown bad modeled. All settings are the same, but shown with errors. In the images: the first two are Story 1 showing the wall frame and the correspondent model. The second two images are form Story 2. And can see what happens. The last is the same model but made with VectorWorks 2017.
15. Hello To all: I use wall framer since...... I do not remember the VW version. In conjunction with FRAMECAD STRUCTURE ( to produce LGS automatized ) is a very nice toll to take an approach of the steel quantity and structure model details. Now, since VW 2017 it is very complicated its use. And follow all the common steps I did before, have a lot issues. For example: If in a Story I have two kind of walls, only frame one. And the others can't at all. Any way, any have the same troubles? Regards
16. Hello to all: My experience is with VW 2017 in High Sierra, and VW 2018 with Mojave. To my surprise OpenGL works. Issues at this moment: 1) when render a part of the model, and add other layers to Unified views, maintain only the portion of the rendered part. 2) Do not show the icons of the Tool Set.
17. To me fail in any file. Then I think it is the VW Preferences file
18. Hello Phillip: I am from ARQvision. An architecture firm located in Santiago of Chile, South America. I started using ClarisCAD for Macintosh since 1995, when I was studying in the University. In 1996 change to MiniCAD as well. And naturally, when found my firm in 1999 I was using VectorWorks as well. In 2005 we implement BIM in our process, and we aren't stoped. Regards www.arqvision.cl/
19. Hello: Well, all this situation will be clarify next 12th of September. By my side, I will not change because I maintain my old MacBook Pro 17 as my war horse. I love its big screen. And its performance is not tooo slow like the new ones, except VRAM. For other side in the iMac of my office, things will change. Mojave will be there early or late. Then I will review how VectorWorks 2017 work in the Dark. Regards to all
20. Hello all: In my experience operating VectorWorks 2017. Bad render occurs when an object is located, like a 2D Locus 10 Km from the building. For other part I work in my MacBook Pro 17, with only 1 Gb VRAM. then if open two files problems start. Reagards
Saludos
22. Hello to all: I install VW in each Beta I tested before to preview if I must update all my software when the final release appear. In my experience, working since VW 2008, when update to Yosemite must update to 2014, after that with El Capitan, 2016 was the choice. Now I always operate with High Sierra Beta, and VW 2017 works perfectly. But Mojave is other thing because Apple left to work with Open GL and CL, then I think some troubles will appear using Metal. For that, I suggest maintain High Sierra to work efficiently. Regards.
23. Dear all: Al less in High Serra I tried to add the Dark Mode feature with mySIMBL to tests ( Dr. Dark plugin ). And try to view what happens activating the DarkChocolate Theme to be tested. (In Terminal write defaults write -g NSWindowDarkChocolate -bool TRUE to activate or FALSE to deactivate. ) With both procedures, VectorWorks 2017 do not work with Dark Mode at all. All Tools windows goes white and can't operate. About Open GL I think Apple will not suspend its operation because a lot users will not update to Mojave and change to Windows ( very nasty to me ). But I think in 2 or 3 more years Developers including VectorWorks will change to Metal or include OpenGL as a plugin. Then....don't worry. Users have the power to make fix any problem to operate with their software. Regards
24. Working with Project File is tooooo slow Since begin with a big project ( obviously in BIM ) the worst thing is the time to make changes in the Working File. For example: User A made architecture and User B made Electric MEP, and User C made HVAC User B must make a change in electric receptacles for HVAC that interfere with light receptacles. Then trying moving only one receptacle all freeze and appear the bar Waiting the Project File........ sometimes 45 seconds sometimes 65 seconds. For other side. When Save and Commit, the time to do this demands about 15 minutes!!! And the time to refresh the content for the other Users DEMANDS a Local File Server. In my case, the time I am talking is using DropBox with a 10 Mbps connection. I think the Project File must be in a local Network ( shared in DropBox or any other Cloud ) And the changes in the project must be quick. Regards
