modelling a free form

Hi VW_user

Have a look at NURBS surfaces in the VW help, particularly 'Reshaping NURBS surfaces'. If I was doing it, I'd make a flat surface and then manipulate it into your shape. I have tried this sort of thing before and it is not easy. Good Luck.

You might also have a look at the Drape Surface command. This will create a very free form nurbs surface. Of course you'll need to have some object(s) to drape, but this might help with understanding the shape better in the long run. Like for instance how you would actually build it, or instruct others to do so... Have fun ;-)

Here is your curved surface.

First draw the shape in Top/Plan as a Polyline

Copy this polyline then extrude a couple of feet.

Then extract the top surface of this object and move it off to the side as this now will be a closed Nurbs Surface.

You will then have to increase the U an V points and would suggest you rotate this in accordance with how you would like to move the points up or down. I took a guess to create this finished shape.
