VW Backup folder MISSING

Recommended Posts

Vectorworks 12.5.3 on Windows XP is no longer creating VW Backup folders and is therefore no longer saving (the much needed) backup files to \VW Backup.

Initially I blamed the network, permissions, etc., but the same thing is happening with drawings saved to folders locally on C drive.

Any help would be appreciated! I know that it won't be long before I am in the position of losing hours of work without the "safety net" in the way of "VW Backup"!

...and yes, I have checked the Session tab in Vectorworks Preferences.

Try resetting the preferences. I don't remember if VW12 has a Reset button at the bottom of the VW Preferences dialog box. If it does, click that. If it doesn't, you will need to manually delete the preferences file.

If you manually delete the prefs, you will have to reenter your serial number, so make sure you have it available before you do it.

In either case, you will have to reset all of the preferences to your liking.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

There is a reset button - which I had already tried - although I will have a crack at manually deleting the preferences file.

I also tried "borrowing" a serial number from one of our other computers, but that made no difference.

Another odd bit of behaviour is that Vectorworks files are being saved with a "date stamp" about 9 hours ahead of the actual time. All other software is saving normally!

If the autosave is waiting 15 minutes to save (following VectorWorks time), is it actually waiting 9 hours and 15 minutes???

Hmmm... frustration!
