option for viewports to update

Dieter @ DWorks

Question

the situation now: viewports that show 2d wireframe updates automaticly everytime you move or zoom in or out the screen.

When the viewports contains much information, the update is very slow. When there are multiple viewports, it's a disaster. When you have transperency of object, it's not workable. I can send a file if you want to see it with your own eyes.

Before you say: it's the pc: It's a new one and it's almost the best to get. The only program that has 'problem' is VW.

So it would be good if those viewports have the option to update automaticly or not. You can then update them when they need to and set the layout much much faster.

This goes back to the "White Elephant Effect" i've commented on in other threads. Like many other software companies NNA is resting on their laurels and assumes by adding new pieces to the jigsaw it keeps the punters happy. But just throwing extra bits into the boot/trunk of the car doesn't make it go faster, just makes it heavier and slower consuming more fuel.

VW desperately needs a rebuild from the ground up, streamlining to take FULL advantage of new technologies, operating systems, hardware and particularly new quad core chips(relatively new) and modern graphics cards.

Every season Formula 1, Funny car, Top Fuel rail, Nascar and Rally teams sit down and redesign their cars replacing weaker links improving stability and reliability making them lighter and more aerodynamic, sometimes dtuning them cuz the rules say they're too powerful, so, i'm not suggesting NNA rebuilds every thing every year, but, they should keep up with the machines their software runs on and show the other software companies how it's done!

SET AN EXAMPLE! Listen to your customers . . .. . . . . always.

P.S. this doesn't mean cosmetic GUI addons. PS STILL has the best, easyest to use and understand face to it.
