Brooke
I never linked them; they have different settings, rotations, locations...I pick one to delete it, one pick is shown, but three stairs are deleted. Undo brings back 3 picked objects. Ungroup explodes back to treads, risers, etc., rather than to 3 separate objects...??? Quote Link to comment
Brooke
See thread "stairs object not workin correctly." My clipboard is faulty at the moment also. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
This was/is a know problem with some version of 12. You might try updateing to 12.5.3 and see if it is fixed there. If not, it is never going to be and you will have to switch to 2008 to avoid the problem. Pat Quote Link to comment
Don Berinati
This also happened to me in a file converted from VW12.5 to 2008. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
OK, here is some more info. An early version of the stair tool in VW12 caused some file corruption. If that got into you template file, then that corruption will carry forward into other documents. The best bet is to rebuild your template from scratch. To fix the corruption in a file, NNA has provided a script called "Fix Stair Associations". You can call tech support and they will send it to you or you can read the thread where this came to light and the script was originally posted here: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=9&Number=82562 Pat Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted February 7, 2008 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 7, 2008 Also, there is a known bug where duplicating a layer with linked stairs in them will create unwanted associations (i.e. unexpected deletions). To avoid this problem, one should reset stairs on layers that are duplicates. Quote Link to comment
Brooke
OK, thanks all for confirming and tipping to possible work-about. I will research stair 'reset' and fix association script. One always hopes that bugs are posted prominently so as to enhance the cred of software sellers and save buyers much time and grief, etc.. If there is a known bugs list that is reasonably complete, please post its location. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
