uninstall VW2008

There is no uninstall feature at this time. Honestly, the only thing an uninstaller would do besides trashing the folder in Program Files is delete the registry entries, which really won't hurt anything if they stay around.

Your user data folder would be left behind by an uninstaller, as would the system dlls that are added (as they could be in use by another application).

I'd say moving the folder to the recycle bin is quite sufficient.

If you are simply trying to get a clean environment because of a concern about corruption of files before a reinstall, then deleting the VectorWorks application data folder might be in order as well, but you will lose all settings.

What's the goal?

Shouldn't be. This shouldn't an issue unless VectorWorks is running. Maybe check your running processes to see if VectorWorks really closed?

Worst case, it should definitely work in safe mode (although I wouldn't think it would have to come to that).

Even if the VectorWorks process is not running you still may need to boot in safe mode or turn off some other applications. One user had a problem with an updater failing because the application was in use. It turns out that he has an add-on application lauching toolbar, Aqua Dock in this case, that held tha application in a state the locked the application.
