deelicious88
Hi all, first of all, I'm very sorry for this basic question, I just started using VW a few days ago. I was using Constraint and Dimension Tool to make a measurement from one point to another, but once I clicked, I get the indicating the start of the point to the other, and I get a box of where the text (the measurement) is supposed to go to, but there's no text in the box. At first I thought it was the colour of the text, but then I changed it, and still no text. I did it the way I did it a few times before (and it worked before), so I really don't know why is it not showing up now. Where did I go wrong? Can someone please let me know how I can make the text to appear? Thank you very much. Quote Link to comment
Badarian
Hello Dee and welcome to VectorWorks. For starters check the Navigation > Palette > Classes to ensure that the DIMENSION class is set to be visible. If what you are getting in place of your dimension is selectable do so and check Object-Info-Palette (OIP)where you can control the text/dimension and witness lines and text boxes. Below is a description of the hardware and software that I am using you should yours to future posts it helps to pinpoint problems and SOLUTIONS Quote Link to comment
deelicious88
Thanks a lot I'll try it as soon as I get my hands on the software. Thanks again. Quote Link to comment
deelicious88
Hi, I've done what you suggested, but it still didn't show. If I deselect the measurement, it disappear. But if I click and drag in the area, to select it, the measurement is there, only that I can't see it. I've made sure that the color isn't white or none and that it has a weight line. But it still didn't show up. I'm confused Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
With the dimension selected, look in the Object Info Palette (OIP) and check that the box labeled Show Dim Value has a check mark next to it. Also, check and make sure that your font size is set to something resonable. Again with the dimension selected, go to the Font menu and try changing the Font Size, and possibly even the Font. Perhaps you have a font selected that does not play nice with VectorWorks. What happens if you use the Text tool to put text on the drawing? Pat Quote Link to comment
deelicious88
Hello, thanks for the respond, I have checked that the check mark next to "Show Dim Value" is ticked, and it made no difference. I've checked the font size and it is reasonable, I've played around with the font style, font type and font sizes, and still made no difference. Then lastly, I tried putting normal text in there, and the same thing happened Quote Link to comment
Guest
Try creating a dimension in a new, blank document to see if the problem is visible there, too. Are you by any chance using VW 9.5.1 or 9.5.2? What versions of VW and the OS are you using? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted January 23, 2008 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 23, 2008 Does this happen with all typefaces on your machine? Quote Link to comment
deelicious88
Hello Yes it happened with all typefaces on the machine and all sizes too. I've tried closing the document, restarted VectorWorks and tried it again, but still doesn't work. Then I tried starting on a fresh document, and it works! So I'm wondering what setting in the old document is wrong? Oh, I'm using VectorWorks 2008 (it says that it's application version 13.0.0) on Windows XP. Thanks Quote Link to comment
