MSachs
I have recently upgraded to version 12.5 and am having no luck getting gobos to show up. I have tried everything I can think of with no success. I even went back to the manual and have gone through the set-up step by step. What am I missing? Marty Quote Link to comment
Ericoxer
What do you mean having trouble trying to get them to show up? just a gobo catalog? Are they not showing up when you render? Quote Link to comment
MSachs
They were not showing up at all when rendered. In a fit of desperation, I finally began resetting the custom renderworks options and by switching from Shadow Mapped Shadows" which is what the manual says the setting should be to "Ray Traced Shadow" the gobo appear. Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted September 24, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 24, 2007 The documentation is in error. We will update the documentation. The settings should be changed to: Ray Traced Shadows Selected Transparent Shadows Selected Shadow Mapped Shadows De-Selected Auto-Adjust Exposure De-selected By default final quality Renderworks will render the Gobos correctly. MSachs
Okay, so I just got my upgrade from 12.5 to 2008 and now I am having problems getting gobos to show up in this version. I have tried every conceivable combination of custom renderworks settings and no luck. The manual says "Have Light On selected in the Object Info palette" but I don't have a Light On box to check. There is only Draw Beam and Draw Beam as 3D solid. In addition, the only way I can get to the Help files is to open them from the Help folder in Vectorworks. The Help Menu comes up blank. MSachs
Help menu problem solved. However, still no gobos. I even tried creating an example in 12.5 with a working gobo and then opening it in 2008 and it still isn't working. It appears that it is not creating a lighting projector for the gobo to be projected by. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted October 1, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 1, 2007 Make sure you don't have anything blocking the light. In Fast Renderworks you should see the light, but not the Gobo. Are you using NNA's symbols or your own symbols. The NNA symbols have a "Default Instrument texture" applied to them so the light will show through the geometry. If you opened the 12.5 filr in 2008 make sure the light is turned on. MSachs
Finally found the problem. Seems there is a new "Visualization" palette and you mus turn the light on there. Unfortunately, there is no mention of it in the gobo chapter of the Spotlight help file. Quote Link to comment
