changing default new file

Does anybody know how to change the default new file when opening Vectorworks. Sometimes I don't want all the symbols or formatting in my templates but would like my layer scale to be set and that nasty grid to be turned off.

I know I have done this before but I can't remember how exactly.

any help would be great - thanks in advance.

Set up a file how you want your template to be, then "Save As Template..." as "Default.sta" to (overwriting the existing file):

Applications > VectorWorks 12.5.1 > Templates

Remember to save the old template under a different name (or just rename it) so it won't get lost.
