cavity closers for all symbols in walls

gScott

Question

currently wall components can be used to close the cavity<s> on window + door PIO's.

can this functionality not be extended to any object inserted into walls? this is pertinent to me where custom window or door symbols are used.

insert a VWA window or door into a wall with 3 components, with the middle component representing the cavity. select the door/window + in the obeject info palette set the Interior Comps + Exterior Comps to "1". as you add the 1's you will see more handles appearing to the side of the door/window. drag those handles around + you will see how you can change the reveals. if you drag each handle to the middle of the outer edge of the jamb you will get a closed cavity... very nice feature... but it would be better if you could apply it to custom symbols inserted into walls too...

Aha, great, thanks Gideon! It took a bit to decipher so here're some further instructions for anyone interested:

Insert a plugin door/window into a wall with 3 components, with the middle component representing the cavity. Select the window and click on Settings in the Object Info palette. Go to the Wall Detail tab and add "1" to Number of Components for both Interior and Exterior. Having done this you can now drag the additional handles to each side of your window?doing so parallel to the jamb?to create the cavity closer.

Nice feature indeed.
