Taproot
Is it possible to "convert 2d to 3d objects" using the bolt and nut tool? I currently get an error message every time I try it. Or, are we supposed to then make up the bolt, washer, and nut separately? Thanks, Quote Link to comment
propstuff
If you're trying to make 3D nuts and bolts, the options are already there in the 3D options in the Mode Bar to have either the full set or just the nut, bolt and washer options you want. The Convert 2D to 3D is not needed. HTH. N. Quote Link to comment
Taproot
Nicholas, Could you explain a little further? When I pull up the mode bar options, none of the settings appear to control 3D visibility. I'm using the Bolt & Nut - Inch tool found in the "Machine Design" of VW Designer. From the manuals, I know it's possible and readily done, but I seem unable to reproduce those results. propstuff
Matthew, If I go to the Machine Design workspace, I don't seem to have a tool called "Bolt & Nut-Inch". I've got a bunch of different bolts ("I", "J", etc) and a "Fastener Tool" which has Modes for 2D or 3D, selections for ISO, DIN etc, and controls for turning on and of various Head, Nut and Washer options. It's pretty cool really. But once you've chosen either a 2D or a 3D version, you dont seem to be able to change that. What pallette is your bolt-inch tool under? N. Quote Link to comment
Taproot
Nicholas, Excellent! That took care of it. It's possible that I brought the Bolt & Nut - Inch tool in with the rest of my custom tools. FYI, it was located under the "All Tool" palette. The Fastener tool looks versatile. Thanks, Quote Link to comment
Tshwayder
Thanks everyone, this helped me find the 3d bolt tool. My question now is, why can't I choose "Automatic Plane" like I would when inserting a 3d lag screw. My 3d bolt ends up somewhere random on the "Layer Plane"? I'm using Architect.
