Equipment Summary / Compare to inventory not displaying

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

How do I get 'compare to inventory' to work in 2024?

I have created added a venue's equipment list to the inventory and equipment list, and I have correctly set up the source in symbols and parts (In use and remaining counts appear to be correct).

However, when I create an equipment summary, and select 'compare to inventory' I just get #/0 for each line item.
I cannot work out what I am doing wrong.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Hi Tim,

I'm sorry to say we're hunting some bugs and an implementation issue. Both are being worked on.

The implementation issue is a system limitation that currently restricts the comparison to inventory to work with used plug-in symbols only and not the regularly used equipment symbols we are used to using. Fixing this is a longer process than anyone wishes.

To have your counts work, please insert the plug-in version of the symbols, and then the counts should work.

I just found a new bug when I made the above screenshot. If you assign items to inventory sources, the compared quantities (10 in this example) revert to zeros. I'm reporting that now.

Switching to using the plug in objects only partially solves the compare to inventory problem.  There is a fundamental flaw if you are using accesories, in that each combination generates another plug in object with the accessory associated, so short of having 4 entries for a Source 4 Par (one plain, one with barndoor, one with sidearm, and one with sidearm+barndoor) which then requires adding the quantities of those variations manually to compare to inventory, as well as being an entirely cumbersome key.

There is also no way to use plug in objects for accessories as they do not appear by themselves in the plug in objects list (they appear as sub-parts of the units they are attached to, and you cannot add anything but the entire unit to the display list.)

I did some more work in a test file and while I wasn't able to find any workaround, I did at least generate a clear demonstration of the extent of the problem and how broken the current option is.  The entirety of the 'plot' is in the lower right with two versions of the key, neither of which is particularly successful.  I also noticed there was no way to include an instrument that doesn't exist in the plot (but does exist in the inventory) in the key and include the count available, as even if you plot a dummy instrument to force the object to show up in 'Used Plug In Objects' if you then delete the dummy object to make the counts correct, it then disappears from the key as well.
