Fcappello
Hi All. We are struggling to join wall and slab components correctly. Is there a tutorial that explains this clearly, any setting we should be aware of? Do the walls and slabs need to be on the same or separate layers? Please see attached a screenshot of the issue. Thanks for your help. Best, Fabio Quote Link to comment
shorter
can you draw what you are expecting it to do? my advice would be to not expect too much, and limit the number of components in each object. slabs are best not containing too many components and splitting them into structural and finishes components. ultimately you may find it is impossible to maintain the relationship between wall and slab anyway unless the building is very simple. 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanks for your help. Best, Fabio You can manually set the edge offsets for a Slab on an edge-by-edge + component-by-component basis via the 'Edge Offsets...' button in the OIP. You can manually set the top offsets for a Wall on a component-by-component basis via the 'Components...' button in the OIP. Alternatively, if you know that the Slab will always interact with the enclosing Walls in the same way you can set up the edge offsets in the Slab style then auto-bind it to the Walls + then the Wall components will be clipped automatically. You can either do this by creating the Slab using 'Picked Walls' or 'Inner Boundary' modes or after the fact via the 'Bounding' drop-down in the OIP. Most of the time I tend to do it manually though... 1 Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
Oh + I second what Steven says about having separate Slabs for the ceilings, structure + floor finish 2 Quote Link to comment
FranAJA
Usually I do not use story. I draw slab on the inner face of the external wall, then i move the edges of each component with Edge Offset. Accordingly, I move top and bottom bound of the wall components. For walls: For slabs: If you like something more parametric you can choose innerface, core, outer face of the wall : 1 Quote Link to comment
