ddcpe
How do you rotate an object to a specified pitch rather than degree/radian... for example you have extruded a 1.5" x 11.25" rectangle to around 15'. You then get a face view of it and choose the rotate tool and snap to the bottom left corner then grab it out along the bottom edge then rotate it up. How do you make that rotation be 6v:12h rather than pulling out a calculator and finding the inverse tangent of 6/12 in degrees then specifying that. Seems like a stupid way to do it but its all I can figure out. Thought I saw a video somewhere of this being done but I can't remember and a search gets me nowhere quick. Quote Link to comment
DBruhnke
Drop a locus at the corner. move it X=12, y=6 Then use the locus to rotate. #NoMathRequired 4 Quote Link to comment
ddcpe
Yeah, I figured out some workarounds like that. Just seems like you shouldn't have to go through those extra steps. No biggie though its not much effort. Quote Link to comment
line-weight
I'd draw a rectangle, starting from the centre of rotation, click for the start point, press tab, enter 6 & 12, press return. Then use the opposite corners of that rectangle as snap points for the rotate tool. 2 Quote Link to comment
line-weight
Actually have just discovered, activate the rotate tool and click start point, then press tab a few times and it'll let you enter a delta X and Y, press return twice and the rotate tool has been rotated...it's then possible to do a snap, although not very intuitively and I think you'd have to type in one of the X or Y as a negative initially to get the right resut.
