bjoerka
I am trying to add an object as background to a data tag that resizes automaticly to the bounding box of the entered data. Any advice how to apply a rectangle that will resize automatically? This ist how my data tag looks like... And this is how i want to look like... Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
Just add the rectangle to the data tag layout then constraint the text left + right to the boundary. Make sure 'Fix width' isn't checked for the rectangle. 1 Quote Link to comment
bjoerka
Hi Tom, that is what i already tried in several combinations, but after exiting the tag layout the rectangle isn´t shown... no matter what combinations i activate in the oip - the rectangle is never shown. but when i activate a data tag in the drawing there seems to something inside (left side)... screenshot of one of my attempts... Tom W.
The constraints want to be on the text not the rectangle... 1 Quote Link to comment

Tom W.
Cool! The other thing to bear in mind is that at the moment, the size of your rectangle is dictated by the 'Deckenbezeichnung' placeholder text which is fine as long as the data is always the same or greater number of characters. If none of the data has that many characters you'll end up with a bigger rectangle than you want. It's often better to keep the placeholder text truncated + for it all to be a similar length, then you can ensure your data is always dictating the size of the geometry. In your case it may never be an issue but worth being aware of! 3 Quote Link to comment
bjoerka
🙂 already changed that after wondering why the rectangle is that big .-)) 1 Quote Link to comment
