"Create Floating View Pane" are there any caveats or gotchas about this tool?

I've just recently found the view/tool:

 

View > Multiple view panes > Create Floating View Pane

 

Justifiably wary of trying new things in VW (as many are counterintuitive, or not fit for purpose) but are there any bugs with this tool? Is editing and saves normal? Any other oddments anyone has found?

I just started using the floating view plane, and find it useful when I need to switch between two DL  &  SL.  I like it better than splitting the sheet vertically or horizontally because you can drag the floating pane out of the way and keep the "main" view on the full window.  I haven't had any issues in the short amount of time I used it.  I seem to remember reading somewhere that any use of multiple views adds work for the GPU, but I haven't had problems.

Thank you E|FA, I don't (yet) run a GPU (I'll have to bear that in mind) - I'm really interested in this as I can park all the VW clutter on the other screen and have a large drawing space, same as I get in Sketchup and QGIS.
