Lines drawing 1" shorter than specified

Hello, 

I am trying to draw a 24-1/2" line in vectorworks. I click the first point, then type the length as shown (24-1/2") and press enter and it draws the line 23-1/2". Even if I draw a line then change its length in the Object Info panel to 24-1/2", as soon as i press enter it makes the length 23-1/2".  Im going crazy here, is there some setting I have accidently enabled?

I've noted when i type the length as a decimal (24.5") it works fine, but I don't have time to convert all my fractions to decimal every time I draw a line.

In line tool preferences, my length scale factor is set to 1.

Vectorworks can do math:

- (hyphen/minus sign) does subtraction

+ (plus sign) does addition

* (asterisk) does multiplication

/ (slash) does division

 

Various drafting conventions use a hyphen between numbers to indicate various things, but when in any Vectorworks field, it will always lead to it doing math (notice how the OIP doesn't show hyphens within values either).

 

What you are currently telling Vectorworks is 24 minus half. Simply type a space instead of a hyphen and it should work.
