Symbol database -> Cumulus plugin?

Question

I?d like to manage our symbols in a "real" database.

And I think that Cumulus Media Asset Manager would be a great tool for that. If only there was a cumulus plugin, which can generate a thumbnail of the VectorWorks document to be displayed in the database.

There is such a plugin for MiniCAD 4. But who will write it for the use with VectorWorks???

I agree that the Vectorworks thumbnails of symbols in the Resource palette are inadequate.

I second the proposition of a thumbnail index of symbols.

I work for a lighting and sound rental company and all i basicly do is cut and paste symbols.

Quik acces to the symbols would greatly simplify my work

Have you guys taken a look at the object browser palette? When it comes to placing lots of symbols (or other objects), it's just the ticket.

My problem are NOT the small thumbnails in the Ressource palette.

What I really want is to assign several keywords to a symbol and to perform database queries to find the matching symbols. All this should happen in a multi-user environment where everybody has access to the same symbols.

That?s why I wynt a "real" database.

I vote for this...

...and for a texture preview

at the Recource palette.

How about a PDF document that allows you to view all the symbols and tells them where they are. From this you would be able to search the pdf document to locate the appropriate symbol. NOTE this would be used in conjunction with the existing object browser as a reference. ie. To help those people who do not have a photographic memory!!
