In the meantime have you considered using Data Tags to label short lengths of Wall in a VP to create your legend instead? You could turn off the components so they resemble solid rectangles of colour then the Data Tag could return the 'Mark' + 'Description' fields of the Wall style (apply the Data Vis to the VP obviously to get the colours). Would cut out the manual/tedious element as the data would be coming from the Wall style. Although would mean drawing the lengths of Wall on a hidden design layer in order to generate the VP.

 

That's not to say I don't support your wish - have voted it up.
