  1. The keyboard shortcuts should be overhauled. 1. Right now, they are tedious to set-up due to the dropdown for the modifier key combinations that you need to adjust by mouse. Ideally, the input box itself should also capture modifier keys that were pressed in addition to function keys, numeric keys, letter or symbol keys. 2. To the user, it makes no sense to have an arbitrary restriction on modifier key combinations just because an item is in the menus. You should be able to use any shortcut you want anywhere (except for OS reserved ones). 3. The pop-up warning can take care of shortcut conflicts for the user and signal that a shortcut in the tools has already been used in the menus. And possibly give the means to immediately edit the conflicting hotkey from within the pop-up. This saves a lot of back and forth navigation, because, at the moment, the conflicting hotkey is just removed.
  2. It'd be great if you could set option+U, option+I, option+O, option+P to toggle backwards among the Mode Groups of a tool just as U, I, O, and P toggle forwards for the tools. All we need is the ability in the "Keys" section of the workspace editor! It would reduce keystrokes in many different workflows.
  3. I recently upgraded to VW 2019, and some basic shortcuts do not work, particularly the ones to select drawing tools, like a line. If I use the shortcut (2), it changes the view to an elevation view. I verified the workspace and the shortcuts are as they should be, but when used VW goes to different views instead of selecting the tool I want. Please help
  4. Doesn't seem to be a hot key / shortcut to Fast Renderworks. Am I missing it? Would be super helpful, obviously. I know I can make a custom one in System Prefs-->Keyboard -->Short Cuts (Mac) but I'm guessing there's a better way to do it than that 🤦‍♂️.
  5. Hi. Way back when I was first getting started with VW (last year), I setup a shortcut for clipcube (control+shift+C), because I like to use it quite often. However, I did not realize that there was something wrong with the behavior until recently when a colleague explained the way that it is supposed to work. Normal behavior: When you select an object and choose the Clipcube command from either the view menu or the toolbar button, a new clipcube is generated around the object that is selected. Abnormal behavior: When I activate a clipcube using my shortcut, it ignores any selected objects and simply toggles on the last known clipcube location. If there was no existing clipcube in the current view, the new clipcube that is generated is always very small relative the objects in the design layer, and it is located at the internal origin. This is highly frustrating when I'm working on large models and am far from the internal origin. Not sure what exactly triggers the change in view, yet, because it seems to do it all the time. Maybe it's whenever I change the current visibilities? Anyway, I now know that if I use the menu command, the clipcube generates where I expect, so this is not an urgent problem, but if anyone has any insight into why this is happening and how it might be fixed (hopefully in the next patch?), I would be very grateful!
  6. Has anyone else had issues with trying to assign "Alt + Shift + 'letter' " to a shortcut? For example: I want to assign "Alt+shift+x" to the function of "Hanging position". If I assign this combination in the Workspace editor it will only trigger as if you programmed it as "Alt + X" which will tab you into the "Text" menu. Same with "Alt+shift+V" it will only act as "Alt + V" which is the View menu. I'm creating functions this complex to work with the 3D connexion radial menus. Thoughts?
  7. Hi I use a Logitech M570 roller ball mouse with Vectorworks which has some customisable buttons. I have customised the buttons for various shortcuts but would like to be able to use it to edit the attributes of objects. I can select an object and right click and access a menu with options like edit properties etc none allow me to edit the attributes - ie change the fill or line weight. I have to go to the attribute palette. Right click is the same as pressing control then clicking on the object. I can input a short cut to open and close the attributes palette but this does not allow me to edit the attributes of a selected object. Does anyone know how I can create a shortcut I can put into the mouse so I use a mouse button to select and edit the attributes of a object? I suspect I need a VW script to make the shortcut but am not familiar with scripting. Thanks
