  1. we put the demo on a separate layer ad gray them. or we give the a gray fill and gray pen... When we want to emphatise them we do the contrary. We have them thick and project in gray...
  2. I'm working on a building with tons of identical windows. So I though : great let's use symbols for windows with an ID tag. The purpose is A.to be able to update windows B.to generate windows schedule. I started with a plugin and got a "window in wall". I then set all the parametres (jamb, sash, width, etc)and created a nice wall wrap with the wall detailing tab and got a pretty nice result. At that point I was rather happy, say very happy. => THEN : I inserted them happily in my drawing. and THERE IS STARTED TO GO ALL WRONG. 1. I tried to edit one to see if it updated. It did but it lost all my nice wall wrapping. So I replaced the 2D part by a 2D drawings but since the new window was narrower, i got a blank space around my new windows as the wall seems to retain the width of the unmodified symbol (I did chang the 3D part too, it didn't help)... 2. I used the ID tool to label the symbol in order to generate a window schedule. It nicely convert the symbol back to a "window in wall" that used the symbol as a geometry with the "on schedule" checked. THE TROUBLE IS that no only are my wall wrapped lost then, but the symbol did not update anymore unless I did a check and unchecking of the "on schedule". That wouldn't be so annoying if I could select all the "windows in wall" at once and do the checking and unchecking thing, but I CAN'T... or can I? I haven't found out. I can only select one window at a time... and update all the window by selecting them one by one...And gosh !!! that's hell... 3. HELP! Did anyone experimented this and has a nice advise for me?
  3. Hi, I've got a bunch of favorites resources (about 20), i'd like to set them in another computer. Is there a way to copy all the path without adding each favorites manually? The ideal would be to be able to add the favorite on one coputer and then export/import the setting to another?
  4. On this subject, there is something that i'm not sure I got correctly : does the manual says that it is possible not to change the wallstyle directly in the wallstyleimperial.mcd (or metric) file but to replace the file by a shortcut that would refer to file place elsewhere. I thought so and that this would make it possible to place a network library... If there is such a possibility how could I do that?
  5. Hi, I've tried to customize the defaut resources (wall style). The manual manual says that i can either place a custom file in the default folder or a shortcut to a file. I've tried the shortcut way so to be able to have the original stored on the server for network use... It didn't work. I went in Libraries>default>walls and replace the files by their shortcut to a copy of the original placed on the network... That's what I understood I should do?How else could I do to have the resource available on the intranet? i'd like to use the tool but would'nt like to have to copy the resource in each computer... Thanks.
  6. I haven't yet experiment a lot with the windows. So far I discovered that you can put the id tag in a separate class so that you can turn it of (see id settings). I do not get the windows when I unchek the "on schedule" in schedules. Only the checked windows appear. I haven't found a way to move the id tag so far.but you can change the size of the police and that was usefull.
  7. I cant activate the fill of the linear material. My manual says that I can modify it with the attribute palette, but it controls only pens, not fill. Does anybody have some experience of this?
  8. oops : sorry wrong url. Here are the images : quote: Originally posted by lmt: I'm trying to use te repetitive unit for detailing in 2D. I did'nt work. so i adjusted it manually. I also tried to adjust the first pitch but this is the best i got : Where have I done wrong? Have redone it 5 to 6 time... Really don't get it...

  10. Yes, I'am trying to get use to clipping surface... just don't have the reflex yet. It is a nice tool
  11. Jan15, Do you know if there is a way to set the edges alwys to non hidden by default?

    Doors VW12

EXCELLENT IDEA. Should we post it in the wish list? In the meantime, I read it is still possible to manually change the plugin's classes from the vectorscript editor. It represent a lot of work though. I might nevertheless doit for the most common plugins. Otherwise, I do back and forth standard naming...
  13. I'm trying ot use the function "wallstylename" in worksheet. I paste the function, then paste the criterias, so the formula is : "=WALLSTYLENAME((((C='2_Murs-type-1') & (T=WALL))))" once I've entered it, the worsheet returns a "false", then the formula automodifies itself into : "=(((C='2_Murs-type-1') & (T=WALL)))()" does anyone have an explanation?
  14. Thank you for you advises. I think I'd try add an clip surface as an alternate way to mine. It seems easy. I didn't thought about clipping the arcs and it is one of vw nice tool.
  15. I think my post was'nt very clear. I'm not in any 3D sophisticated things. i'm just trying to do a 2D polyline that should look like this : So far I'm drawing 2 arcs (determined by clicking 3 points)for the curved parts and lines or polylines for the straight parts, then I combine them so that it becomes a polyline. Is it possible to draw the arcs (determined y 3 points) within the polyline mode? I only saw that I can draw curves but not arc?
  16. How could I draw curved polylines made of arc segments that would be entered by giving 3 points? I don't get how to use the bezier, cubic etc... whan I try to be precise...
  17. Sorry, I'm really slow... Where is that setting?
  18. Yeah, it reacts exactly as you say. There must be a flag that does not switch on when the walls are created but that are activated only by the back and forth manipulation. Logically there should be a way to activate that flag (correct the bug) manually (something that gives the same result then changing to none and coming back)... I wonder. Thank you very much.
  19. I'm also trying to find if it is possible to have the pen a different color than the fill : say Red line wall for demolitions and black line for project...
  20. I'm used to have walls in different classes with the option use at creation on, so that being able to change their aspect at once. With the new all system I can't find a good way to change easily a massive wall that have different width. If I use the wall class style, I've got to create as many different classes as wall width as the wall width is locked, then if I want to change how they look, i've got to change each one by one. I've also tried using the unstyle wall, but the option fill set to none results in a white wall. How could I have it get the class color?
  21. I've set up all the classes, layers, viewports in the worksheets (ClassNameStds,LayerNameStds, ViewNameStds). I DIDN'T TOUCH at the LayerMapG. Then I ran the set up : model set up; create stds VP; Then I ran the standard Naming... It computed and made the correspondances. EXEPT for the Mod-Framing roof Layer. I did it 4 time, double checked that the name was good in the standard naming command (in details). it was correct but would generate. I changed manually the name of the layer into my stds. Than I ran it backward. It correctly translated the name back in Mod-Framing-roof layer. I did it again in my direction... woops didn't work. I thought that may be I asked too much generating all the possible plans. So I started a brand new file and created ONLY the Roof frame plan and the Roof plan. Reaction was exactly the same. I saved the file for info. Would anyone care about having a look?
  22. Hi, Is it possible to import the wall styles I had in VW11.5 (in VA Set Project Ref?)? How could I do that? I've tried to go to tools option VA Set Project and Set the path of the file, but nothing happens... Thanks

    LayerMapG

Hi Gary, I'm afraid I am of no use. I've been using VW only since June and upgraded to 12. I'm very confused about the LayerMapG. There are explanations in the PDF manuals sent with VW12 and in both the online manuals in VW11.5 and VW12 but the information they give seems totaly obsolete as they refers to elements that do not seem to exist anymore in the version (project settings?)... According to what I read when running a search in the forum (you find 12 instance if you make a search under "LayerMap" but most question are without anwers). LayerMap started as a plugin script in VW9... I don't know what's left in the actual version and why the manual still refer to it. AS A MATTER OF FACT: It doesnt matter that much for me no to use that worksheet, if I could just be explained how to customize classes and layers while using the setup command. I found the standard naming not very useful wiht VW11.5 and was so happy to read that it was now easy in 12. I ordered VW12 but still can't figure out how to match it to my own standards. I've spend 2 days now trying to cut down my number of classes in order to fit in VWstandard bu I still have 8 more... LayerMap is VERY confusing since the manuals seems to hint that there is a way to customize it but IT DOESN'T (at least easily), and Robert advise you not to althout It seems that it used to be customizable... May be that have changed fo etter. But PLEASE I'd need some current info (not those in the manuals that seem a legacy) is there someone (from NNA may be) that could please, please, please let me know what is the best way in the current version to customize the standards : not only changing their names but what to do if I have MORE layers and classes than in the VW Standard? I've read it all on the coarser and finer switch but nothing says what to do if you have more classes/layers than VW standard... Thank you very much.

    LayerMapG

Hi Gary, I read your previous post. Robert could you elaborate more about the layerMapG worsheet please. I understand it is better not to "mess up" with that file. However it would be really usefull for us as it would spare people to set up the wrong plans. So If you could give us just a few hints, it could be helpfull. The manual seems to say that one can add layers and classes (our office standard has more classes, so far I've tried to map them with vw wtandards the best I could, but even if I replace those I don't use, I still need more? and its says that if one does so one need to "add those layers and classes in the LayerMapG". Could you please give us a bit more info about these? Thank you very much.
