  1. Thank you for the responses ..... sweep is exactly the option I was after. I spent hours looking for it, thinking "it can't be possible for 3D CAD software to not include a 'rotate profile about axis' option" ... I was right. I guess it's all about nomenclature. Etienne
  2. Hi there, In past CAD packages I have worked in, there is an option to create a solid by rotating a profile around an axis. Think of designing a pot for a plant, for example. I can't find this option in Vectorworks. I've tried extruding a profile along a circular path ... but that is kind of messy because what I need is an infinitely small circle! Is there an easy way to do this? Can anyone provide a technique? Thanks.
  3. Hi Nikolay, I've just returned to this problem (by trying to solve it in another file)... and it is now working fine! No idea why it wasn't working to start with ... (except that I was inside a different file). Anyway, now, when I uncheck 'activate title block' the title block is no longer counted on the sheets... as expected. Thanks for replying.... and sorry we can't sort out what I was doing wrong before. Etienne
  4. That's strange! .... none of my titleblocks are 'activated' .... yet they are all counted! Maybe I'm using the wrong field name in my title block. ... it is "Project Data.Total Number Sheets" ... is that the wrong value to use? Etienner
  5. Hi there, In my project I have a half dozen A3 sheets ... and one A4 sheet. All have Title blocks on them ... but the A4 sheet is used to output a schedule of plants in the landscape design. In other words, the A4 sheet shouldn't be included in the Sheet Count (Project Data.Total Number Sheets). But the A4 sheet *does* have a little trimmed down Title Block that allows me to include the project details on the A4 report. Simple question ... how can I ensure that the A4 sheet is not counted in the A3 sheet count? Been digging and googling for an hour ... but I can't find a resolution (that doesn't involve creating worksheets with formulas that count sheets with specific names) Etienne
  6. Hi there, I'm getting strange behaviours with hardscape objects. For now I'm just using them in 2D, and I'm just using them so that I can automatically generate a Hardscape Legend (using Graphic Legends). Here are my problems: - When a hardscape hatch has a fill, the fill goes over the outline. Can this be configured anywhere? This makes my Graphic Legends very messy because some hardscapes have a fill and no outline, some have no fill and an outline. I'd like them all to have outlines. - Some of my hardscape definitions have an icon (In Resource Manager) that is slightly smaller than most Hardscape icons. Why is this? Is this signalling something? - Sometimes (actually quite often), when I turn an existing outline into a Hardscape object (by doing Landmark > Create Objects from Shapes) the Hardscape type I have chosen in the dialogue box is not activated and instead, the previously used Hardscape type is used. The I go into a spin where it takes me hours to get the hardscape type that I want. Has anyone seen this? Is this a bug? Have I defined my hardscape type wrongly? Am I using the tool wrongly? Etienne
  7. Hi there, I'm in Australia, and there are not any updates when I do "Check for Updates". I have SP1 installed and I'm after a fix for the issue where images attached to a plant record (Landmark) are lost (apparently fixed in SP2). Is there a way to download and install/test SP2? Kind Regards, Etienne
  8. They don't appear to be ... would be great if they were! Save me a lot of clicking around and hitting 'recalculate'
  9. Is there an easy way to access Project Data in my sheets? I've created a Plant Schedule (in A4) using Graphic Legends, and I just want to display the Client Name (and address) on the front page. In other CAD packages I have used, one would do this by just creating a Text object then typing in the text string #ProjectData.ClientName or some such thing. Is there something similar in Vectorworks? Etienne
  10. Hi there, I am using the Plant Database (file system text version) in VW2023 SP1 (on a mac). I cannot attach an image to a plant record. I click on Open Plant Data, then choose a plant, then click on "Edit Image" under the Plant form image title. The Edit Image dialog pops up. I click on 'browse', choose an image then click OK. The image does not appear on the Plant Data window. Nor is the image file uploaded to the image folder (that is named after the plant catalog TXT file). The plant catalog TXT file *is* accessed by VW (its modified date changes), but there are no changes to the csv text inside. This is annoying because it means that I have to attach all the plant images to the Plant record every time I allocate a plant to a plant style. Etienne
  11. Does anyone know if it is possible to automatically re-calculate graphic legends? (to save the problem of people forgetting to highlight all the graphic legends on all the sheet layers in a project and hitting 'recalculate' before printing). I'm thinking it would happen whenever one double clicked on the Sheet Layer. Etienne
  12. Oh, wait I see.... I can do that by double clicking. Etienne
  13. Is there an answer to jpccrodrigues' question? I want to copy a shape from a certain point ... and then just keep single clicking in different locations to drop one of those shapes at each location? Etienne
  14. Just a quick note. Looks like the Graphic Legend feature in 2023 comes very close to what is shown in the video. I have been playing with it for a couple of days and the layout possibilities are far better. Still a few limitations, but they are minor so far. And no more need for viewports that don't update. Each cell can be layed out arbitrarily, with different fonts etc. Promising.
  15. I'm trying to lay out a Graphic Legend such that 4 cells fit on one A4 page (in a 2x2 grid). Looks like the Graphic Legend feature comes very close to what I need. Just wondering if there is a way to fix the height of each cell? Also wondering if it is possible to determine a space between the cells? I can see that I can make each cell bigger (padding) from within, but I also would like to spread the cells out. In HTML any container has both a padding on the inside and a padding on the outside. This allows for most layout needs. Also wondering if the padding on outside of cell can be different for vertical and horizontal axes. Etienne
