  1. As a PC and MAC user, I suggest using PDF as well - go to Adobe Acrobat and buy the Adobe Acrobat 7.0 software. Then, you can make a portable document format (PDF) file. Acrobat is great for any circulation of file types between MAC and PC.
  2. Does anybody know of a commercially available keynotes database for Architect (residential or light construction) similar to the new Autodesk based on Masterspec notes database?
  3. I'm suddenly getting the following error: "Error: _3246 _3249 - Index outside array limits." and I am unable to setup viewports through the setup command - is there a way to fix this without damaging my file?
  4. 1. Can you delete a "sheet" from the Issue Manager? - it is tracking sheets that I have deleted out of the file. Suggestion: Add a button on the Issue Manager to Delete. 2. Can you re-order the sheets in the Issue Manager? Suggestion: Add a Send Backward, Send to Back, Send to Front, and Send Forward command. Better, have the script reorder based on the Data file for that sheet.
  5. Can you edit ConDoc sheet symbols? They don't seem to be in the Data_Sheets file.
  6. I'm on VW 11.1 using a Windows based system.
  7. I'm a newbe, so bear with me please. I've read about title borders, sheet symbols, et al until I think I've read them all. That said, where did the Sheet-Common layer come from and what is it's best use? I didn't set it up, so I assume it is a default layer? Sheet borders and title blocks would be the logical use for it, but placing the sheet symbol on it doesn't work with the Issue Manager on separate sheets. So I can't see what else would be common, unless it is a sheet weasel clause or "Not for Construction" stamp, etc. Any suggestions?
  8. I can't find the ConDoc D symbol to edit. A - The Document Setup allows for ConDoc D to sleect. Once it is on the sheet layer, it has no edit behavior. I can mass change the font in Text, but I cannot format the text fields to bold, make larger, etc. B - The Border symbol tool allows for ConDoc D selection, but again there is no edit behavior once on the sheet. C - For some reason, the sheet library objects I've placed in my Favorites does not have ConDoc sheet available. Help?
  9. I've run Document Setup to select ConDoc D as my drawing border. I'd like to now format the ConDoc D border symbol to format text attributes to different font, bold, etc (I will use the Issue Manager to edit the text). I can't find the ConDoc symbols in the Resource Browser to edit the symbol, nor is it in my file's resources. Doubleclicking on the sheet border in sheet view just gives me the "object has no edit values" notice. Help?
  10. Thanks - I;ll try it again - must have missed the double-click on the line or something. Standby...
  11. I've run Document Setup and selected ConDoc D. I now would like to edit format the Company Name and other certain other Issue Manager object info text to bold, different font, stc. Is there a way to change formatting on the sheets?
  12. As a newby, I have somehow created a minor problem: views and sheets don't aline. For example, I go to Mod Roof and the sheet outline location is up and to the right. I can drag the sheet to aline, but what did I do to create this mess?
  13. OK, I gave up after the 5,000th crash yesterday. I uninstalled 11.05(build) and reinstalled 11.01 - I'll wait for version 12 and hope they have it worked out. Hopefully, 11.01 is more stable.
  14. All of a sudden my cavity lines are not showing in new walls - they are drawn but when I click to end a segment, the wall outline is all that remains. I've checked to make sure document setup scale is set to show cavities; I've checked Classes to make sure the wall class is visible and the pen is solid and black; I've checked in Edit Wall type to verify that cavity lines are solid and black. Yet after it is drawn, the Object info shows all cavity lines set to invisible. Help?
  15. They were set to default and I thought that default would have a line width - changing them to .03mm did the trick. Thanks.
  16. I'm continuing to crash repeatedly as well with the update. I've experimented with turning off those services running in the background like Norton AV, Roxio Drag to Disk, etc - the stuff in the system tray - it seems to eliminate almost all crashes. Plus, save after every action. I think something in the system tray or startup services are casually interfering somehow with VW and causing the random crash.
  17. Is there any option setup for VW so that the last file closed is the startup file? THAT WAY THE CRASHED FILE RECOVERY DOESN'T TAKE SO LONG TO REBOOT. Thanks.
  18. I've updated to your new build. Although it seems to have helped, I'm still crashing randomly. I don't think you have gotten to the core of the problem yet. I still believe there is a memory overflow problem or memory sharing problem if there are any other applications running. I'm running a laptop IBM T22 with 512 Ram and 80 gig drive with updated video drivers.
  19. OK, done all the usual suspects. Upgraded my video drivers. My machine crashes about every 30 minutes, and almost everytime I go to any view other than Top. I've tried shutting down everything and restarting in Selective Startup and in Diagnostic, with the same results. I've tried saving after almost every edit and it still happens. Another suspicious thing: I'm getting a Norton Antivirus warning that I'm getting incoming trojan attacks, just after startup. Does Vectorworks report in to the mother ship everytime I boot it up? Or is this a possible conflict with your online help. Why would Norton think there's a trojan incoming to Vectorworks.exe? Help? I'm running an IBM T22 laptop with 512 Ram and 80 gig hard drive.
  20. Yes - random crashes about every 15 minutes while using walkthrough or flyover tools in my file. As stated above, there is a flurry of hard drive activity just prior to crash - I suspect a memory violation. Every 3rd or 4th crash, The Microsoft error report states it is an Apple Quicktime problem. I'm reduced to saving every time I make the smallest of changes. Did the usual: Downgraded Quicktime to VW preferred 6.5.1, updated video driver, etc. Running XP SP1 - SP2 seems to make the problem worse. IBM T22 with 512 ram and 80 gig HD.
  21. Katie, I think the video drivers were the problem as you suspected, but it didn't help the corrupted file. Even after I updated and went to an older backup file, I crashed once, but it seems more stable. Yes, I bought 11 out of the box and have downloaded 11.01. My IBM T22 laptop is 3 years old and the Savage card is no longer supported - last video driver update was in 2003. Maybe time for another machine.... Thanks again!
  22. Katie, Thanks. I updated the driver as suggested, but the file opening brings instant Runtime error and an immediate crash and close of VW. I can still open last week's backup file, so the file iteself must be corrupted. Do you have any backdoor method to recover the crashed file? I've tried copying it in Explorer and the copy file crashes as well.
  23. I'm crashing about twice a day with the famous runtime error: The application has requested an unusual runtime blah blah - call your application folks. I can reboot and work another hour, then another crash if I move a wall. However, the last time it happened it corrupted my 6 gig file and I can't open the file without the error shutting down the system. I'm running an IBM T22 laptop with a gig of ram and XP pro (no SP2!). Any way to save my file? What about stopping the crashes?
  24. Robert - As far as my original question, are library objects sacred as far as modifying their properties? Shouldn't I be able to at least duplicate a library object and make mods to my copy, without losing the properties fields found in the library version?
