  1. Yeap, before and after. Also did a disk repair using Mac OS X CD before I updated.
  2. Yeah, the printers have disappeared from both the Print Setup and Print dialogue boxes.
  3. When I updated to VW 11.5 my printers disappeared from the print dialogue box (even though they're available for all other applications) so the only way I can print is to save as a PDF first and print that. Does anyone know the easiest way to get my printers back? I've tried deleting them from Printer Setup and adding them again but this doesn't do the trick.
  4. I've just come across this problem in 11.5. I've created a bunch Sheet Layers, each with one Viewport. After doing some editing I went back to my Sheet Layers and the Viewports weren't there (i.e. nothing was). The thing is they're somewhere because it won't let me recreate them with the same name (says they already exist), but they're just not visible. Anyone know what the issue is here? Mac OS X 10.3.8, VW 11.5
  5. In the following example we have an external cavity wall intersecting with an internal cavity wall. Both cavity walls are drawn with the wall tool (i.e. each skin is not drawn separately). Item 1 is a typical result of joining the cavities with the Cavity Join Tool. Item 2 is actually what we want to achieve but is cobbled together without the use of the join tools. Is there any way to achieve the look of item 2 using the join tools? [ 03-25-2005, 05:27 AM: Message edited by: Christiaan ]
  6. We've had some major problems with the 11.5 updater Mac OS X 10.3.8: 1) it wouldn't allow installation from a standard account (i.e. it didn't ask for an admin username and password it just choked and wouldn't allow it) 2) when we installed from a admin account the permissions were all screwed up for the standard account so we had to manually change permissions to get the the application to run on the standard account 3) all printers are missing from the VW print dialogue box so we can't print

  8. Yes a straw bale wall tool would be very cool.
  9. Well we have had the file resent to us and we don't have the problem anymore. We're not sure what was done differently at their end unfortunately. Thanks for your time Katie.
  10. Autodesk said in September last year they were porting their DWF Viewer to Mac OS X: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=3557576&linkID=1977925
  11. There are third party programs around that allow you to concentrate resources where you'd like them, such as: http://www.donelleschi.com/cunningfox/ However I doubt this would solve your problem. I know of two things that probably would: a more powerful processor or a clean reinstall of Mac OS X. [ 08-13-2004, 04:47 AM: Message edited by: Christiaan ]
  12. Both these things only increase the printable area. I'm still left with all the data sitting in the middle at A3 size. If I then correct the viewport scales to 1:50 I'm left with a jumble and and an A3 page border. [ 08-12-2004, 01:17 PM: Message edited by: Christiaan ]
  13. The general area the drawing encompasses. So although the page setup and printable area is set to A1 before importing, and the drawing is meant to be A1, the printable area (in Page>Set Print Area...) is ISO A3, while the actual page setup is still A1. So a fit-to-page fits to the A3 area.
  14. I'll also ask the person who sent the drawings to confirm their size.
  15. Except this doesn't explain why the whole page is setting itself to A3. We would rather not have to arrange the viewports and increase the print area, etc. as this is time-consuming and would not be an accurate record of the drawing. Is there really no other way to deal with this problem? Maybe I'm missing something in my explanation? I'd appreciate if you could take a look at the file.
  16. Yes it seems to be a problem with the viewport scale. After importing the viewport scales are 1:104.12074922 for the floor plans and 1:208.24149604 for the blocks of text. At first I thought the whole drawing was just one big viewport but the imported file is made up of a number of viewports. So when I go round and change all the viewports to 1:50 I just end up with a bunch of viewports overlapping each other. I'd be happy to send you the file if you'd like to take a look Katie.
  17. I haven't learnt how to use VW11 yet, we're just trialing it and using it to import this DWG, so in answering my query it's worth bearing in mind that my head is probably still in 'VW10 mode' and my problem may hinge on my lack of knowledge of viewports. I've dimensioned the objects in the drawing and they are drawn to the correct size. The layer scale is correct. So that seems to leave the viewport. Could this be the problem?
  18. We specified 1:50 on import and set the layer to 1:50 before importing. What's the layer scale ratio?
  19. We have an issue whereby we are trying to import a DWG file, which we are reasonably sure is a 1:50@A1, and it is shrinking down to roughly A3. It's not changing the page setup to A3, it's just using a print area of roughly A3, so when we print for instance it will print onto an A1 in the top lefthand corner. Any ideas? 20. On some computers in our office Vectorworks is crashing when updating an Art Lantis model. The initial model export works okay. The crash happens when updating the model; precisely when you browse to the directory/folder that the model is located. Is anyone else experiencing this? Vectorworks 10.5.1 Mac OS X 10.3.4 Dual G5
