  1. Why doesn't VW allow an unmodified key to be used as a shortcut for any command? It only allows a single keys to be used to execute tools. I'd like to be able to execute menu commands as well.
  2. I got the same thing. I always ungroup and delete lots of info so that's how I got rid of them. I wish VW had a better way of doing the section drawings.
  3. To check this out I downloaded Adobe Reader 7 and the demo file from RightHemisphere. My system slows down so much with Adobe Reader 7 that is completely disabled. It took 15 seconds to get it's attention to quit. It is also connecting to a web site somewhere and sending information to this site (I assume it is Adobe) without officially telling me anything about it. My Spyware software is reporting it. I did let it connect and send the info once to see if that was the speed problem but it didn't help. If anyone gets this work correctly I would like to know how you did it. Thanks
  4. I'm going to recheck the scale. Thanks It was the scale. I've never worked in anything but 1/4 scale so I didn't even notice that each layer has a different scale. Thanks for the help on a simple stupid thing that wasted a bunch of time. I learned another one. [ 03-04-2005, 10:22 AM: Message edited by: LarryAZ ]
  5. I just created a new drawing and found everything works like it supposed to. It just isn't working on an existing drawing I started in 11.01.
  6. I'm trying to draw the foundation on it's own layer with the floor plan layer as a snap guide. This worked fine with 11.01. Using layer options it will hide, gray, and show fine. But it will not let me snap or snap/modify. Did something change command wise in 11.5?
  7. Where can I find a list of the new commands that will be missing from my menus and tool pallets because I have a custom workspace? Rather than spending lots of time trying to find all the new feature commands it would be very helpful to get a list. Everything seems to work just fine. I love playing in sketch mode and the OIP seems to be faster on my system. Other than that I haven't had time to figure everything out. The visual changes really look nice!
  8. I would love to try a trackball, but what about the scroll wheel? I would be lost without that now that I'm used to it.
  9. I just made a great discovery that I guess everyone else must know. I was thinking that the snap grid was only useful if you are working horizontal and vertical. The most useful part of the grid is when you have to work on a plan that is on an angle. It is the only way to make the dimension work correctly. So I've completely changed my mind. The grid is extremely useful. Duh...
  10. JH - Good ole Informative Graphics. I still wear many T-shirts with their logo. My wife was the VP Marketing there for years. No Mac support on any of their products. Jan - I'll try the Virginia PolyTech plugin. Thanks
  11. I'm still learning new things every day I use VW. With the intelligence built into VW I don't see any reason to have a snap grid set. As soon as you rotate any item it is off the grid anyway. What I want to know is there some other reason I want to keep the snap grid to 1" or some minimum number? Do I compromise my date by not having a grid? Thanks again for the help.
  12. Jan, I couldn't find anything that would lead me to believe they have an OSX version. Did you download it?
  13. Has anyone found a good way to import or even view a .dwf file? Thanks for any help.
  14. Used it all morning without any problems.
  15. How do you name a style so it shows in your class list as Style Wood, or Style Stone, instead of #1 and #2. If I rename the class the plugin just creates a new class with the old number. Thanks
  16. Hey thanks again for your help. Most of my problem was not understanding how flexible the programming for the Logitech mouse is. I put the far right enter key to execute on the scroll button and the "x" on the right button. Wow is this simple thing a huge time save for me. I just needed a little boost.
  17. How do I change the (Ctrl + click on document) to select the "2D selection tool". I use a two button scroll wheel mouse and I could save lots of time with a simple right click back to the 2D tool. It would be most helpful when using text. I continually put x'es on my text when I want the 2D selection back. I know you gurus know this one. Thanks
  18. Katie you were right it was set to D size and you can tell by the little icon that it leaves tiny strips on the edges. I'll try it out the next time I print, but I'm sure you diagnosed the problem. This one would have been difficult to figure out. Thank you very much.
  19. I have a weird problem. I finally figured out how to get batch print to work correctly from sheet to sheet. But now my HP 130nr "D" size roll is printing a sheet just fine and then trimming three little strips of paper about 3/8" each before it starts the next sheet. I get exactly 3 strips between every sheet. Anyone ever heard of this one?
  20. Yes I do have that set to save. All I was doing is adding annotation to the 4 veiwport elevations on a sheet. Just once in while it will lose the render info to all 4 viewports, not just the one I working on. I don't know why it keeps it sometimes and loses it other times. I under stand if I change anything on the design layer the viewports will go back to wire. It seems with everything set to keep the cashe I should be able to do anything I want on annotation without losing the render cashe. Thanks for trying Jonathan,
  21. I would like to make my viewport hold it's rendered state until I want to update it. I have the prefs set to retain render model always and I have the check box to hold the cashe and I tell it to always keep the cashe when I exit the viewport. What am I doing wrong? I just keep having to update. Thanks
  22. Thanks for the info. Changing every sheet did fix the problem. I didn't understand this one and thought I was changing the global setting under page setup. I agree there should be a preferences setting that over rides all the sheet settings. It is powerful but I still forget and it messes me up.
  23. Your right on the speed issue Peter. I had it set to 150dpi. It's amazing that it takes 10x plus time to render from the default setting of 72dpi. Thanks
  24. I've got a simular question. Why does it only take a couple of minutes to final render in the design layer but as a view port it takes a couple hours to render. Same data same machine same view. What's up with that????
  25. I have an Epson Ink Jet, an old Laserwriter NTX, and an HP 130nr. I have my default "printer setup utility" set to the HP. I have never been able to get the batch print to work and was told it has a bug for now. So printing one at a time after setting everything up correctly in "page setup" and in the "print dialog box" it prints out just fine. Then I go to sheet 2. Select print and it has Epson 820 at 8.5 x 11 setup. I have to change this almost every sheet. Oddly enough it will remember once in while. Mostly it forgets. Anyone know the answer to this one? Thanks
