ok, so, i made a check what happens, if I check out a license and try to work "offline" with more instances of Vectorworks. It worked as well. So: - if I work in connection with the RLM, every Instance of Vectorworks I open is counted in the RLM. so, either 10 persons open 10 instances or 5 persons open 2 instances a person. However it's 10 licenses running on the RLM - If I instead check borrow a 2021 license and work outside the company-network, I can open as many instances as I want with just one license counted on the RLM (already tried it here) - (same issue with E-Series and with B-Series/Dongle-Series) - with one license I can open as many instances on the same machine, as I want to) Somehow that doesn't make sense to me...

Hi, just a short question. When I use more Vectorworks-Versions simultaneously on the same machine, does every Vectorworks instance I run count as a license? I just took a look at the RLM Server Administration Web-Interface and it looks to me like that. Every time I start or quit a Vectorworks-Program/Instance on my local machine the license counter on the server goes up or down. If I check out a license instead i can run as many instances on my machine&user as I want simultaneously (what makes more sense to me, imho) So, is the number on the server right or just simply misleading. In fact actually I got 2020, 2021 SP1 and 2021 SP2 running on my Mac and every instance is listed on the RLM Administration-License overview...

Hi, has anyone some recommendations for a macbook pro 16" USB-C/Thunderbolt docking station? We are looking for an easy to use, reliable docking station to use - with an 4K external monitor which gets connected with the correct screen resolution! - as power supply - for attaching the macbook to an RJ45 Ethernet Cable Just one single USB-C Cable to plug in, not one for the docking station, one for the monitor, one for power... The docking stations we actually bought don't do that job. (more than one mb pro 16")

sure, in Germany we all have quertz keyboards, there are also keys with strange dots on vocals O_o (they look like Ä,Ö,Ü) , and, we are all driving on the right side of the street here and we are using dimensions in a so called "metrical system". The quarter pounder with cheese for example here is named "royal ts" and, wait, we still use latin letters and arabian numbers, but, why does this matter? 😉 And why does Ctrl-Z work on windows and Command-Y works on Mac? 😄 however, now I know more

Hi, just call "issue". The Script-Editor on Mac doesn't support cmd-z. On Windows Ctrl-Z instead does work. Just a small Enhancement-Request...

finally have been able to resume my work on python, never thought it would be that different between vectorscript and python. The code from above doesn't return me any syntax errors, however, it doesn't still work I actually try to calculcate the area of all objects with the same criteria, (like I already have been able to do in Vectorscript) I tried it your way, then I tried it the other way you suggested me last time in vectorscript. Concatenating strings works fine in python, with + signs and with vs.Concat. However the area-function doesn't return me the area of all objects with the wanted criteria. So I integrated the AlrtDialog in the end of the script, just to see what really is happening inside the script, and, every concatenation looks really good. However, the area is always empty. I also wrote # in front of the area function, just to see, if there was another problem. From that moment the HAREA variable was always = 1234. (because I set it = 1234 in the 5th line) Somehow I want to port my script to python, too 1) because I am learning both, python and vectorscript 2) because i think that python in long terms is the better choice... thanks for your great help to my last questions! Hi, is there any possibility of mapping numeric data into a string ifc-string variable and prevent the variable from having many decimal places? like num2str from vectorscript? Unfortunately the data manager doesn't run on vector script :D.

already tried to, there's no installer however - "installing" in fact is just copying the app in the application-folder... I also tried to delete all data in the user-library twice, without success...

Hi, i tried to run the unreal engine on mac os. It starts with the Epic Games Launcher. However, the Software is stuck in an update-attempt. Might be caused by the trouble from epic and apple, i guess. Am I right? I didn't find an answer on my problem in google. (the text in english "please wait while we start your update")

in Germany we have the "CW-Tür"-door-object 😉 but, it should be able to have a doorless in a controllable class, too. I will have a look.

there must be some way to integrate a dummy object in every door or door leaf, which is lying in one space, only. Like chipping your door to be able to locate it :D, although thought about vectorscript, but, I still don't know how to verify in which direction and in which space object the door is opening to 😞

maybe THAT'S the problem. I cannot save a set of Data-Visualization, Layer-visibilities as a set. That's one big advantage of Archicad, actually. There's really a lot of stringency in that system. First tab - the drawings, second tab - all saved views which contain sets of layer visibilities, filters, there also exists an own "reconstruction" filter renovation-projects, and, the third tab are layouts.

sure. That makes sense, definitely. However we had problems with a 2020 file although all elevations were "right" (in order that all objects were in the right layer and all level-layer-heights were configured right)... after we fixed the space elevations, everything worked fine. Thank you! But, another thing, how do you manage the door location? @JMR in fact a door theorically is situated in 2 rooms, although it opens just in one room. Is it possible to show only the room "in which the door does open to"?

I tried to download updates with the online updater in an extra server folder for sharing them with my colleagues. Unfortunately the 2021 Updater returns me error messages. Are there still problems with the 2021 online updater?

Hi, i actually retried the function "GetSpaceNumForObj" with simple rectangles. Unfortunately in 2020 it returns me the spaces in the same layer as the listed objects and the spaces in the layer under the object layer. In 2021 it returns me all spaces which are lying under the dressed object. Is that a bug or works as designed? I mean, theoretically "GetSpaceNumForObj" could be a great function for addressing furniture in interior designs, for knowing in which room doors are opening to,... but that way it doesn't work. but, stupid question apart from mac os versions, are there any plans for porting Vectorworks on ARM? Does Apple really plan to switch completely from intel to ARM?

We use a whole network drive, just for our projects. You can find all (more or less) active projects in that folder, for every folder there are subfolders with a whole lot of various data for the projects. not really neccessary. Just an idea. I made a little linux experience (Debian, ubuntu) but it's a few years ago. One server per machine should be ok. If the server really can handle that much requests, well, then it should be fine. Sounds great! I remember testing PS in 2015 and it was really slow ;-D 👍 I'll keep that ideas in mind. Actually we don't really need a system which connects more servers in different locations. I will also be happy without a kind of "bim server" like in Archicad. However a slim web-interface for controlling the server-status could be an interesting idea. When will material resources work as class-attributes, too? I think, that there is no need for an explanation, why.
