  1. Hi Pat. ive been using VWX since it was Minicad back in the 90’s. I’m not sure why you would suggest I should check out the demo version. Can you enlighten me please as I may be missing something? not sure why you can’t see the 3D loci insertion points. They are definitely there. You must have something turned off in your prefs. Love to find out what it is. As an excercise (please humour me). Drop an M10 metric 3D hex bolt from the ‘Fasteners’ tool box into a drawing. In wireframe, zoom in on the head of the bolt and see if you can see the 3D insertion point loci. H
  2. This is what i'm referring to Pat. If I have 20 screws in a detail the 3D loci zoom up as I zoom out. Now, if I can get to the original symbol of the plug-in object then I can edit it and change the class to 'NonPlot'
  3. Old shot, but there’s an hydraulic drawing board under there somewhere. H
  4. Hi Markdd. Thank you. unfortunately, the 3D loci are fully embedded in the plug in without a separate class allocation. Something that needs to be fixed at source please VWX. Plug in’s now cannot be edited at the working drawing insertion level, but rather need to be found in the application files (if you can find them that is) and then ‘drilled’ down still further to edit one simple symbol. Whenever I create a plug in from scratch I ensure that the insertion points are classed as ‘NonPlot’ to avoid the visual cluttering that can happen, particularly when drawing detailed machine drawings with lots of nuts, bolts, washers etc. Another little nugget for the VWX wishlist pile. H
  5. I'm using the Logitrch MX Vertical and whilst it takes a bit of getting used to at first, the reduction in wrist strain and and RSI has been very noticeable. Certainly recommend investigating it.
  6. I would like to add a class of 'NonPlot' to Plug In insertion points (3D Locus). I'm aware they don't print, that's not the problem. However, when I'm using a lot of plug in's from the the 'Fastners' or other tools pallets, they start to clutter up the drawing and I would like to turn them off. Anyone know how this can be done now? H
  7. I'm trying to understand the logic behind how the 'Drawing Label' change in 2021 is more efficient than the legacy version. As far as I can make out, if I need to get my drawing labels to look like the Legacy version (see attached image) I have to go through a whole process of editing the style. Somebody enlighten please.
  8. If it’s purely based on how often a person posts, then a frequency rating might be better.
  9. Is it possible to change or remove the term 'Greenhorm' from the forum members ranking status please? Just because I don't post very regularly doesn't mean I'm not an experienced user. The title 'Greenhorn' implies that I don't know anything and other forum members who don't know me assume that I'm a novice.
  10. @jcogdell Logically the 3D symbol should be stacked on the truss as that is what will eventually be rendered and calculated in the total load calculations. At present the 3D locus for the sling is offset from the symbol insertion point by 300m in both the horizontal and vertical. I have had to edit all the 3D symbols so that the insertion points are correctly positioned under the hoist hook. It's a bug and needs to be fixed. Turning off the class 'Rigging Accessories' also turns off other 3D un-associated items such as clamps, shackles and slings. This is not useful. I have remedied this by editing the 2D symbol and renaming the class as 'Pick Up 2D'. I've had to do this for all the resource pick up's. This is not time efficient. Apologies for sounding grumpy. H
  11. I'm having interesting problems with the insertion of hoists and slings in 2021. Slings do not automatically centre on the truss. It appears that the insertion point is way off centre. Slings appear as a 2D elevation icon in 'Top/Plan view. Allocating a separate class and making it invisible is the only way to get rid of it. Selecting a sling from the 'Pick up symbol' only raises the hoist position (motor down) and doesn't include the sling. Pointers would be much appreciated please. Hamo
  12. One for the wish list. Can we please have an option to include hanging clamps for all fixtures?
  13. In my humble opinion the button labeled 'Click to insert a dead hang bridle' is misnamed and causes confusion. As a qualified & ticketed class1 rigger, I would opine that there is no such thing as a 'deadhang bridle' (happy to be corrected of course). In my world, a bridle has 2 or more 'legs'. What this button should refer to is 'Click to insert a deadhang dropper'. A 'Deadhang dropper' is usually used to extend the length of the hoist chain down from the rigging point if the hoist chain is too short for the height of the venue roof. It can also be used from the truss up to the hoist hook if the motor needs to be 'out of camera shot'. A Dropper (or 'Stinger') is usually FSWR with a thimbled eye on either end.
  14. So, with 2020 are we any closer to getting fully detailed bumpers and speakers into the Array tool?
  15. @DBruhnke No, the workspace hadn't changed. Managed to fix the problem by running the updaters and 'Repair' mode. Still not sure why it happened.
  16. For no reason I can see or understand. Renderworks has disappeared from the program completely. Renderworks commands are no longer available in the rendering drop down menu. Worked fine yesterday. Today, vanished!!!!! VWX 2020, MAC OS Mojave Any clues?

    2019 Title block

Thank's Kevin. Did that from the start, even deleted the whole thing and started from scratch. Still does it. H
  18. I am so over the 2019 title block. Anyone know why some fields entered in the Project Data won't show up in the Project Data edit menu, but do show in the Title Block Manager. I included 3 new fields; Client Name Event In Event Out Item 1 appears and is editable in both menu scenarios. Items 1 n& 2 only appear in Title Block Manger. I'm missing something, damned if I know what though. H
  19. In this instance it was with Global truss F44. I'll see if I can re-create it with other trusses. H
  20. Have you tried just using the scale bar tool from the 'Tool Sets > Dims/Notes ' menu? This might help you. http://app-help.vectorworks.net/2018/eng/VW2018_Guide/Annotation/Inserting_a_Scale_Bar.htm H
  21. In creating a small truss & hoist plot came across a couple of weird things; Plot as normal (Top/Plan) - LX Problem-1.jpeg - All normal, quite happy thank you. Plot in Plan - weird lines emanating from the hoist positions - LX Problem-2.jpeg - Tried editing without success. In 3D aspects weird lines are still visible - LX Problem-3 at 86% zoom.jpeg - All normal apart from the weird lines. Zoom in to a hoist at 217% and everything disappears - LX Problem-4 at 217%.jpg - Items are still there and 'glow' when moused over or 'select all'. Any clues?
