  1. This same issue happens to me and I'm also using the same workaround to fix it.
  2. Skill shmill. Converting an AutoCad file into a Vectorworks file can turn an average AutoCad operator into an Artiste.
  3. If you're using VW with Windows you can right click on any mcd file in Windows Explorer and click on "Open with..." then select Vectorworks and check "Always use this selected program..." If you're using Mac....I have no idea.
  4. I've found that upgrading to v10 not only my improved my seat placement and vacation time, but seat quality as well. Previously I'd been using one of those cheap-o Office Depot swivel chairs. Now I'm using one of those fancy ergonomic chairs with pneumatic up/down and lower lumbar support. Needless to say my bum reaped the rewards of upgrading to v10.
  5. Lately I've been inserting doors with a jamb width setting of zero. Upon closer inspection in the Object Info palett, the jamb width reads 0.1" When I enter zero in place of 0.1" to update the door, it reverts to a jamb width of 0.1". I don't want a door jamb width of 0.1", I don't want a door jamb at all. How can I resolve this issue?
  6. This is not a VW issue, but I was just wondering if anyone has experienced any network issues with the installation of Service Pack 1 for WinXP Pro. I'm pretty sure its not our NT 4.0 server, but as soon as I installed SP1 on the workstation, my connection time to the server for saving/deleting/transfer files takes between 10-20 seconds. Anyone out there have similar issues?
  7. Katie Thanks for your help on the phone today. I ended up updating the chipset software for the Intel 850 and upgrading the BIOS for the Dell Dimension 8100's. This has given us some momentary stability in regards to the NVidia G-Force video display drivers. Keep your fingers crossed....
  8. I'm using a four button Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical. I use the normal left and right button clicks but have Delete programed into the thumb button and Enter programed for clicking the scroll button. I used to have a five button Microsoft mouse. I thought I'd miss that fifth button, but the features of VW10 have allowed me to customized my right-click button for the documents (recent files) and objects (join, add/clip surface). So, technically you could get by with a two or three button mouse if you have VW10.
  9. Would anyone be able to tell me why grouped objects within symbols sometimes stay grouped and sometimes become ungrouped when entering and exiting symbols?

Thanks for looking into this Katie. We appreciated your work! Do you know if the feature was dropped from v10 or v9? The general consensus around our office is that this used to be a working feature in earlier versions. I hate to refer to AutoDesk products, but it worked much like the Match Properties command in ACad. ie. Pick up all the properties including class and layer attributes and apply them to other objects. Does this ring a bell with anyone up there at the Nemetschek Mothership?
  11. Hey Mat How many users are registered over there at www.vectorworker.net ?
  12. Ok yeah, I wasn't very clear. 'x' is for reverting to 2D selection and 'xx' is for reverting to 2D selection and deselecting the object. And it's still an problem regarless of whatever else is running. I've even stripped everything out of the the task bar so the only thing running in the background is Norton. Please ad to wish list: integrate Winamp into a pallette for VWA 10.5 and allow for proper resource allocation
  13. I'd like to return the Campinile tool too.
  14. I often use the keystroke 'xx' to return to the 2D selection tool from whatever tool I'm using at that particular time. I've been finding that after spending a while within a file, this command disappears until I reboot VW. Has anyone else been experiencing this? Is there a cure?
  15. OK I understand. I've also noticed that the pitched roof option only gives you a hip roof and not a gabled roof. What's up with that? I know you can edit the roof once its been created but that takes too long.
  16. I wouldn't touch an AutoDesk product with a 10' pole.
  17. I've just been trying out the Massing Model tool in v10 and have found that the roof styles don't seem to be working. Is this a bug? Am I supposed to designate which styles to choose from? If so, how do I create the styles? The manual mentions nothing. Any help would be beneficial.
  18. When plotting a black and white drawing I would like the option of converting all objects colors to white and converting pen colors to grayscale (including hatch pattern lines). Does anyone know of a tool or script that can do this? Setting the VW doc prefs to b+w converts all fills to white and pens to pure black. Sending the file to the plotter in color and converting the plotter colour to grayscale converts the pens to grayscale yet converts the fills to greyscale as well. I'm looking for the best of both worlds. Can anyone help?
  19. Ditch the Mac and pick up a PC with XP Pro. Noteable firms here in Vancouver are slowly realizing that VW on PC's are much more effective and efficient.
  20. v9 is in the dark ages. The best feature of v10 is this little animated Paper Clip that pops up telling you what to do.

....even when 'class' is selected in the Eye-dropper filter.

I'll back him up on this. It copies the attributes from the class, but does not copy the "Class Style" setting.

I've noticed when using the eyedropper tool that when you pick up the attributes of an object and apply them to someting else, it only applies the individual attributes and not the class attributes. Has this always been the case? VWA10 XP Pro
