I think the 4.1 finally fixed the problem. I didn't realize how much I was using the home page until it broke.

I just closed + reopened VW + the Home Screen opened as expected so that's two out of two so far 🙂
But before I shut down I tried opening the Home Screen within the application + got the small blank version in the middle of the screen so I'm not convinced I'm out of the woods. However when I summon it up now it's opening as normal... Just need to see what happens...
Thats what I'm finding. When I restart the program it works as expected. The second time it opens full screen but blank, third time it opens as a small blank screen.

I have actually just updated to Sonoma 14.4 from Ventura (since I told Tech Support I would try this) + the Home Screen has now opened as normal!
Is it still working?

Nope, Signing out and back in again is only a temp fix.

Yes, same thing. My Home Screen was much smaller and just blank white.
Exactly!
I signed out and then signed in again. So far that's has helped.

I had no Sonoma issues until this 14.4 upgrade. Why can't all softwares play nicely together?....
-
Im running an M1 Max MacBook Pro with latest VW and MacOS software. The issue might be the Sonoma OS 14.4 update as there have been reports of its effect on various softwares.
-
Since upgrading to sp4, if I click on the home button the screen opens but the content doesn't load. If I restart VW it works fine once or twice then stops loading again. Is anybody else having this issue? Is there something I have to click?

@Diletante and @Pat Stanford, Could you send us the System Report file from your Macs? I want to check for any other applications that may be conflicting.
Please share when you have answers. I have had this problem before as well.

Resize handles are not showing when moving mouse to a shape corner, but I can resize, this problem is related to the Mac at my work as the problem does not happen on my home Mac. In a same way the magnifying glass does not display properly but I can zoom. Is this a corrupted application or something else?
I'm seeing this problem too in an intermittent basis.

The new update fixed it on my end! Oops spoke too soon. When I make the sash difrent on the outside then the inside the window goes black.

Maybe Im not going crazy.

Have you been able to recreate the problem?

I sent you a DM

I've moved a file from 2023 to 2024. I found that the files render correctly but if I modify a material/Class in the window settings, the glass renders as solid. This only happens to custom configurations. If I change the window to fixed glass or casement it renders correctly. Only the custom windows are effected.

My M1 Max MacBook Pro is in a different class from my 2017 iMac Pro. Hard to go back. I still haven't heard the fan come on except for long renders.

couldn't you create the shape as 3d polys then chose them all and create a mesh then use the shell tool?

OK you motley bunch ! SPEED TEST TIME 😁
Still think the M2 is not a big deal?
Below is a link to a VW model. Don't worry (criticize) the model, texture or lights...that's not the point. The model's purpose is to deliberately tax your system. Open to the only sheet layer and simply render (update) the VP.
Our times. All Macs OS 13.2., VW 2023 SP3, no other software running. 70GB VW file:
12:40 - 2021 MBPro M1 Max 64GB ram ($ 4200)
12:23 - 2022 MacStudio M1 Max 64GB ram ($ 2600)
9:12 - 2023 Mac Mini M2 Pro 32 GB ram ($ 2000)
11:22 - Interestingly a buddy's identical MBPro, but running VW 2023 SP0B1
Of course our office would never render views like this in VW, but go to TM in a heartbeat. NO - not everything in VW is render time. But look at the 25%± speed boost with half the ram. My opening comments on this forum stand: The M2 Pro Mini is an excellent value for the price.
Shut up and render:

Interesting about repairing using the installer!
Please do keep me posted if you notice it again. I do know VW 2023 SP2 fixed an issue related to this so it's still possible it could creep up in SP1. I'm mostly concerned about this still happening in SP2 so we can try to address this sooner than later.
Thanks.
I never had the problem again.

I agree. I find it can be quite fiddly + involve a fair bit of trial + error, especially when looking to shape the vertical edge of a Wall rather than its top. But you can achieve quite cool stuff which can't be done any other way so a bit of an unsung feature I think.
Also windows cant be placed on the split

@Andrew Pollock - thanks. I'm holding off on SP2 because of the bug I mentioned, but I'll try your suggestion anyways to see if it fixes SP1.
let me know. I still feel like SP2 is buggy. There is a known issue with the program crashing when I publish a certain file.

I was having this issue too and I was using 2023 SP2. I called tech support. They had me quit the program, open the updater (which needed to be updated), go to advanced options and click repair. This found 57 bad files and fixed them. The window cutting problem hasn't returned.

Been fighting all day with high geometry files provided by vendors. GPU is at 2%. RAM is roughly 20%. A single CPU core is pegged, and the other 19 are idling, so this is just further evidence that the additional cores mostly benefit rendering because there are still so many operations that are, and will continue to be, limited to single core.
This isn't a dig at VW. I just wouldn't want anyone to feel buyer's remorse about spending the extra dough on more cores if they don't need em for rendering. Real world context is everything. Will be interesting to see how M2 and the mythical Mac Pro can possibly help with this but it's gonna have to be in the form of faster single core clock speed, so... not sure how much Apple can move the needle (not that Windows would necessarily be much better at single core performance).
The constraint I see with single core is like that quote from The Mythical Man Month, "A woman can deliver a baby in 9 months but 9 women can't deliver a baby in 1 month." You just gotta sit there and wait for that one core from start to finish regardless of how much money you throw at multiple cores.I always wondered if a multi core machine could be developed that had instead of additional "efficiency cores" it had an overclocked or hi speed core.

The old way is one of my most missed features from previous versions of VW. I used it all the time.
