  1. To resolve this issue if you select the viewport and go to Object Info Palette, then click the Advance Properties button, the click on the Attributes tab and select Separate Cross Sections then click Ok the slab and foundation walls appear. Thank You, Alicia Timmons Technical Support Specialist Nemetschek North America 410-290-5114
  2. my slab shows ok. then i turn on the layer for my foundation and my slab goes missing. this has happened on many projects. for some reason the section fill does not complete the section cut in some section views. this is a major problem. what is being done? what is the work around?
  3. so i deleted HDW-5 and the blank spot. then everything goes back to the way it was. but when i come back to the hardware window HDW-5 & the blank comes back
  4. ok i just added HDW-5 to the Door hardware window and closed it, assigned it to my door then reopened the window and now i have this blank added to the hardware list. i also got an error code so i canceled the door modify window and closed the file w/o saving. but i still have a goofy door hardware list when i reopened the file. now my home file is screwed up!
  5. at the office i made some new door hardware types. after a while things went goofy. i get these blank areas that i can delete but when i reopen the door hardware window they come back again. if i edit the blank spots and add data they eventually go blank. when i generate a hardware schedule i get blanks. the "Door Hardware OK" image is from my vw at home. i have not yet brought in the file from the office and am a bit afraid too. what am i doing wrong?
  6. ok thanks ill give it a try. i assume that i model the pipe so i can see the mass in section cuts and then add the NURBS line inside the pipe mass, turn off w/ class, to get info to a worksheet. is that correct?
  7. ok but what about pipe that goes vertical?
  8. how can i get the length of pipe in a project? or what can i use for a tool that would allow me to extract the length to a spread sheet?
  9. the door & window sections in the story pole are 2d drawings. they are symbols and they do end up in the details part of the drawing set. but i have them in my story pole to make sure that all my modeled windows and doors are at the right height. i also have a 2d out line of a kitchen counter. all of this just helps to confirm my heights in the model which it is easy to get lost in.
  10. we should be able to edit a record for a symbol here (see pic) and not have to enter data in record detach THEN reattach it to the symbol.
  11. i found the problem. while the texture bed was in a class that had a texture applied to it (black top) there is another place on the object info pallet were you need to set the class. this is odd. see attached and compare it w/ the previous images
  12. i have created a texture bed but i seem to be having problems. while the texture bed conforms to my dtm surface, it seem to be removing the green surface and making it wire frame. it looks brown but that is the shell or base that you are seeing. as you can see i have a texture applied but it does not show. what am i doing wrong?
  13. i have a story pole that is a symbol and use it to check all my heights in the viewports of my model. also if any one else is working on a ref file, they ref my story pole and use it as a guide.
  14. yes i checked. keep in mind that the door shows correctly in the file where is created. BUT when i ref it to another file THEN it disappeared in the target file but was still ok in the source file. some how it has cleared up and ok. thanks for your input. : )
  15. when i opened my dtm file the door trim is now missing. the pick shows that all my classes are on. first thing i checked. thanks
  16. please see photos. i have 2 files one is were i made the building model and the other is going to have my dtm. i made a design layer view port in my dtm file to get my building in but some how the doors do not show. it is as if they are not part of the wall but they are because they cut the wall in my building model file. any thoughts?
  17. can you send me the dxf file? i am on the other end. i have done dtm using the stake tool and often wanted to get a total station to do my own surveying. digitalmechanics@comcast.net
  18. lets say i want to get the total of all the board feet of my trim, i.e. window, door, baseboard etc. how can i do it? if it were only baseboard than that would be easy. i just use the wall tool and make a baseboard. but what if my baseboard goes vertical in one area. the above is true for pipe etc. we seem to need a "linear" tool that works like the wall tool but can go vertical and take on any shape, pipe, gutters, trim whatever and then extract the length.
  19. dangerous feature in the door schedule. while it lists basic doors correctly i.e. 2'8" for the door leaf sliders are listed by frame size. if i add jambs to my slider to make it look correct in plan then the slider width gets smaller in the schedule. hence, to get a correct width in the schedule i ruin the look in plan & elevation.
  20. since your sheet material is mostly the same why not skip the z dim and just say 3/4" ply? you could have one work sheet that is just one thickness and another worksheet another thickness.
  21. ok, i did. still over my head. what exactly did you do there? i see buildings and slabs w/ data attached. attach a movie. you can point to what you did and say "we did this and that". i want a youtube event. : )
