Michelle B
I just received a file back from our architect and after pasting some older layers, I go back to the original drawing and try to dimension out spaces. I see the dimension as I pull it, but as soon as I release my mouse button, it disappears. I am not working in symbol mode, just doing basic drawings. Can someone please advise? I am using Vectorworks 2020. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
If this happens only with Dimension objects, it is likely that they are set to go into a class that is set to invisible. By default Dimension Objects go into the Dimension class, but you can set a different class in the Dimension pane of the Document Preferences. Quote Link to comment
Peter Telleman
@Pat Stanford Hi Pat, returning to this old thread, so it's easy to change that setting per document, but is there also a way to have dimensions not go into a specific class in general, so for every document you open without having to change it per document? Thanks, Peter Quote Link to comment

Thanks, Peter I don't think there is. This is one of the multiple inconsistencies that appear when you attempt to set everything up for graphical consistency across files. Quote Link to comment

Pat Stanford
I agree with Tom that this should be part of your Template(s). Document Preferences will allow you to set the class you want dimensions to go to, or you can turn that off and they will go into the Active Class. Screen shot from VW2025. 1 Quote Link to comment
